A couple weeks ago I joked on Twitter that I was in need of a book boyfriend Advent calendar. There was quite a bit of “yes, please!” from others, but no one could find a good one. Clearly, this was up to me. So, to make the chaotic holiday season a little more fun and a lot more sexy, we’re going to feature a book boyfriend every day for the next 25 days.
That’s right. Welcome to VBC’s 25 Days of Book Boyfriends.
I was intrigued by Eric Northman when we first met him at Fangtasia in Charlaine Harris’s Dead Until Dark (Amazon). As the Southern Vampire Mysteries (later known as the Sookie Stackhouse books) continued we started to understand this Viking vampire. He never played human for anyone. He was vampire and lethal, but the more we got to know him, the more we understood him. There was never a time when I wasn’t wishing to a happily ever after for Eric and Sookie.
Their relationship really takes off in Dead to the World (VBC review | Amazon):
Sookie Stackhouse is a cocktail waitress in Bon Temps, Louisiana. She has only a few close friends, because not everyone appreciates Sookie’s gift: she can read minds. That’s not exactly every man’s idea of date bait – unless they’re undead; vampires and the like can be tough to read.
And that’s just the kind of guy Sookie’s been looking for. Maybe that’s why, when she comes across a naked vampire, she doesn’t just drive on by. He hasn’t got a clue who he is, but Sookie has: Eric looks just as scary and sexy – and dead – as ever. But now he has amnesia, he’s sweet, vulnerable, and in need of Sookie’s help – because whoever took his memory now wants his life.
I was wondering when Eric would make and appearance on this list 🙂
Y’all should just be proud I resisted adding a picture of Alexander Skarsgard portraying him on True Blood.
I would have totally gone for a picture of Alexander Skarsgard 🙂
I mean his face is literally the one that pops in my mind whenever I read about Eric Northman in this series.
