Alpha Showdown 2015 Round 8: Ethan Sullivan vs. Kaleb

VBC: Home of Alpha ShowdownComments on the last couple Alpha Showdown rounds have mentioned it’s getting harder to choose. We’re evil like that. Today’s no exception. It’ll be a good fight.

We have master vampire Ethan Sullivan from Chloe Neill’s Chicagoland Vampires series up against the delicious Tk Kaleb from Nalini Singh’s Psy/Changeling series. The VBC team loves both these fierce men, and can’t guess who is going to win this match.

So, of course, it’s up to you to decide.

We’ve lined up excellent bloggers to fill you in on why each alpha deserves to advance. Read the pitches, and then make the call.

ETHAN SULLIVAN

You know him from: Chicagoland Vampires series by Chloe Neill
First appeared in: Some Girls Bite (VBC Review | Saucy Wenches Fangirl Post | Amazon)
Supernatural status: Master Vampire

Championed by: Barb and Zee at The Saucy Wenches Book Club | @SaucyWenchesBC

Ethan Sullivan, Darth or otherwise, can be found in the encyclopedia (if we actually used those anymore… thanks Google) under “The New Alpha.” We prefer a more sophisticated alpha. And no one does alpha like Ethan Sullivan. Smart, strategic, calculating, insightful, benevolent, virile, Ethan is all those things and more. Name ONE alpha who has literally improved EVERY single book in the series. We’ve CONSTANTLY been blown away by how fucking phenomenal Ethan is EVERY book since Drink Deep, and by Dark Debt, we’re basically weak kneed, drooling, incoherent messes wondering where on earth we can find a man/vamp half as epic as Sullivan.

Lucky Break by Chloe Neill // VBC ReviewAn exceptional fighter not ruled by an ego the size of Texas like your usual alpha, Ethan manages to kick ass with honor and class. I like the old school rules he adheres to. It’s different, and refreshing, and a testament to his strength. But make no mistake, this alpha isn’t afraid to fight dirty. Especially when it comes to his House and those he’s sworn to protect.

“They are my people, every one of them, blood and bone, mind and soul. I will warn you once, and only once, to stay away from them I am not the child you once knew. My priorities have changed, as has my willingness to act.”

One of the most admirable things about Ethan is his fierce loyalty to Cadogan, and each and every vampire under his care. That’s the mark of a true alpha, when people swear undying loyalty and fealty to him and trust him with their lives and futures. This ain’t no pretty figurehead put in place to just look pretty, this is the real deal. He’s first in line at any battlefield against his people, or his friends and allies, like the kings of old, riling up his troops with a rousing speech on bravery and sacrifice, and leading them to victory.

Dynamite lover, amazing sweet talker, kick ass warrior, loyal friend and ally, Ethan is pretty much damn near perfect. And believe it or not, he just keeps getting better, and more powerful. Not to mention sexier… so much sexier.

“I want you,” he whispered, before trailing kisses along my neck. “Jesus, but I want you. Stand up.”

“What?” I asked, brows lifted.

“Stand up.”

It wasn’t easy to stand up on the mattress, but I managed it. I’d been standing only for a second when he bared the rest of me.

And then sat up, and his mouth was at my core…

(If you haven’t read this yet, do yourself a favor and get to this series IMMEDIATELY!)

KALEB KRYCHECK

You know him from: The Psy/Changeling series by Nalini Singh
First appeared in: Vision of Heat, and gets his own book in Heart of Obsidian (VBC Review | Amazon)
Supernatural status: He is a cardinal Tk – and this is the reason he is the baddest of the bad asses.

Championed by: Mandi from Smexy Books | @smexybooks

Heart of Obsidian by Nalini Singh (Psy/Changeling #12) // VBC Best Book of 2013Kaleb Krycheck doesn’t give a f**k about anyone but Sahara. This is the reason he will destroy all of his competition. As a child, he was torn away from his home and placed into the hands of an extremely evil man. This man invaded his mind and tore him to shreds.

“Tell me you aren’t evil.” Please.

Kaleb’s thumbs moved against he temples. “I’m sorry.”

Shaking her head in a mute refusal to accept what he was trying to tell her, she lifted trembling fingers to his jaw. “What have you done?”

“Too much that can never be undone.”

See? Kaleb has already done every horrible deed that could ever be done. Ethan Sullivan, Mr. Too-Good-Looking-Vampire?? HA! Kaleb could fight him with his big toe. All of Kaleb’s power is in his mind. With just a thought, Ethan is a goner. Dust. Ash. In fact, Kaleb could be in bed with his woman, giving her her fifth orgasm, and STILL out-fight Ethan at the same time.

And if we are having a battle of who can please their heroine more, let me give you this example during sex:

“I just checked the PsyNet,” she said, her own breathing not exactly even. “This region just experienced a medium-sized earthquake.”

Kaleb turned his head on the pillow. “It was located deep underground, I made sure of that. No real damage.”

“So we literally made the earth move?”

A slight pause, before Kaleb said, “I suggest we don’t engage in sex in populated areas.”

Talk about rocking your girl’s world!!!!

Disappointed. I really think everyone underestimated Ethan in this round. Coming from someone who read all the books available in both series’s I truly believe Ethan is not only the one who would come out on top in a fight but is also the better alpha. Kalebs amazing but Ethan is so much more then that. People really underestimate him, that’s pretty much all I can say.
