I have to think that Kate will actually win the fight. She’s death with her sword and has words of power. I’m not sure how her magic would affect him, but as far as fighting, he relies on his brute strength. Kate is smart, she can send balls of flame shooting from her hands, she’s taken down all sorts of insanely strong and powerful beings like rakshasas and fomorians. Kate would find something to take him down.

Raphael of the gold and white wings, with the power to flatten cities and kill Archangels, who loves even though it physically weakens him, who can command and make legions of vampires (and angels), inspire fear and awe wherever he goes, find the loophole necessary to make another angel in order to save the life of his Elena, who has battled against impossible odds to save the world many times (starting with his first -failed- attempt when he was a child against his mother gone mad) who has witnessed and survived horrors upon horrors and managed to become the youngest Archangel in history.
Then there is Kate. Who is awesome and amazing but essentially a loner. Though she may eventually get the awe and respect of the Pack now that she’s the Beast Lord’s Mate she has a long way to go.
I don’t know. I just read KD 5 and she is becoming a pretty strong Alpha if you ask me. She has definitely learned to take charge.

Kate definitely. She’s just something different. She’s not the dumb protagonists from most flimsy paranormals.
Kate is a loner, not a leader. Her power with the pack is derivative. She’s an acting alpha because she’s mated to Curran. She has not really earned her alpha stripes for me yet. Raphael however is ALPHA. He rules. I’m going with the archangel on this one.

So the qoute above seems to say that Curran is second in comand??? If so…that’s wrong. Hey maybe I’m wrong…but Kate is not second in comand either. Not that I have read of anyway.
As the Beast Lord’s mate, Kate is second in command of the pack. Her word is almost as good as his, if he is incapacitated for some reason, the pack is supposed to listen and follow her commands as if they were Currans.

I love both series and I love both characters. But against Kate? Oh no, Raphael has noch chance!
I don’t think it’s fair to make the ladies compete with the males. I’m glad I missed Round 9. The Bones VS Cat round. Some voters may take into account the abilities of the contenders but mostly the result will be based on the book’s popularity. So what happens when it’s characters from the same novel that’s competing? Both lead characters like in Round 9? I guess what happened there is that there’re more female voters than male so Bones won. It surely can’t be based on the book’s popularity since both are from the same novel and it wasn’t because Bones is stronger than Cat too.
