August Group Read: Ill Wind by Rachel Caine

Vampire Book Club Group ReadThis month’s poll was very close, but Rachel Caine’s Ill Wind edged out Jeannie Holmes’ Blood Law by three votes. That means August is going to be all about the elemental power, the secretive djinn and urban fantasy goodness that comes with the first Weather Warden novel.

While this one is an urban fantasy, our paranormal romance readers will love the chemistry between Joanne and David. If the synopsis below doesn’t seal the deal, feel free to read the VBC review of Ill Wind (as always it’s spoiler-free).

Joanne Baldwin is a Weather Warden. Usually, all it takes is a wave of her hand to tame the most violent weather. But now, she’s trying to outrun another kind of storm: accusations of corruption and murder. So, she’s resorting to the very human tactic of running for her life…

Her only hope is Lewis, the most powerful warden known. Unfortunately, he’s stolen not one but three bottles of Djinn-making him the most wanted man on earth. Still, she’s racing hard to find him-before the bad weather closes in fast…

I really liked this book and keep reading to finish the whole series. I also enjoyed the Outcast series which is like a side series to weather warden books.
