Shadow in the Silence by Courtney Allison MoultonIt’s (finally!) the return of Book Bits. Did you miss your weekly dose of book news? (I actually really like writing these posts, so I’m thrilled to be back on schedule.)

Books Fighting Cancer — Starting This Weekend at VBC
This first Bit is actually a VBC heads-up! This weekend we’ll be having a HUGE fundraising event benefiting the Barrow Neurological Center. These are the people who did their best to help my dad when we found his brain cancer. He passed in February. So, I’m spending Father’s Day raising money for brain cancer research. Solid plan, right? I have donations from your favorite authors that will go up auction style on the blog this weekend (you’ll have a full week to bid). All of the money will go to charity. I can promise the items up for grabs are FANTASTIC. Paranormal romance, urban fantasy, young adult and even jewelry designed by a star of True Blood.

Plan to poke in this weekend to see the goods and bid on all sorts of signed awesomeness. Also: Still time to donate, authors. Just email me, if interested.

Free Xan Short Story
Because, really, can you get enough of Xan from Karen Mahoney’s Iron Witch series? No. You really can’t. Karen has a short story from his point of view for everyone who signs up for her newsletter. It’s easy, Xan’s hot and she’s awesome. The story is a prequel, so before he met Donna. All the details are up on Karen’s blog.

Cover Reveal: Shadows in the Silence
Courtney Allison Moulton revealed the title and cover art for the third Angelfire book, Shadows in the Silence. I rather like all the green in the background contrasting with the heroine’s red hair. Thoughts?

More Bound by Magick Goodness
Lauren Dane’s second book in the Bound by Magick series, Chaos Burning, hit shelves this month and we already have a tease for book three. Going Under is set for a February 5 release, and here’s the back cover copy:

“Lauren Dane always delivers a steamy, exciting ride,”* and she does it again in her new novel of two lovers fighting for their lives against a rising threat, and a passion that’s just as dangerous…

In the wake of the Magister’s rampage, chaos rules. Left reeling, the Others and the humans scramble to create a some sort of unity in the face of growing unrest and violence from anti-Other hate groups federation—and ruthless PR guru Molly Ryan is the witch who can do it. She grew up in the human world but there’s nothing left for her there. She’s lost her PR firm, her friends and she’s decided to put all her fight toward aiding the Others in this dark, new reality. If there’s anything left for her there, she’s going to fight for it. But Gage Garrity, one of the few Others who survived the massacre, fears that the crusade will expose Molly to greater dangers than ever before.

Now, together, with magick on their side, they’re on the road in a desperate struggle to unite a torn world. From state houses to television news to legislative conference rooms across the country, they’re fighting the good fight. And it’s bringing out a passion in both of them they never expected—one as volatile, intense, and all-consuming as their relentless battle for world unity. A battle that could be their undoing…

Once Burned Book Trailer
Because you want to get all swoony over Vlad, we have the book trailer for Jeaniene Frost’s Once Burned. I’ve already finished reading Once Burned and a review is coming soon. Let me just say, Vlad gives Bones a run for his money in the sexy department.

Chapters 1 and 2 from The Golden Lily
If you didn’t pre-order Richelle Mead’s latest, The Golden Lily, then maybe you could use a nudge. The book hit shelves on Tuesday, but if you need the additional convincing, the first two chapters of the second Bloodlines novel are up online. There may be a familiar Russian in this excerpt…
