Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues by Diana RowlandWe’re gearing up for two fun things right now, readers: group read goodness and Character Love Letters. The former is rather straightforward. Next week we’re talking Street Magic and I need you to vote in the Feb. group read poll soon. The latter is made up of awesomeness, full details are coming, but you can get some insight into just what this Character Love Letters thing is right now.

Cover reveal: Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues
I really love Dan Dos Santos’ artwork, but his cover art for Diana Rowland’s White Trash Zombie series have been some of my favorites. (See the cover for My Life as a White Trash Zombie and read the spoiler-free review.) The tone is just right on this striking cover for Even White Trash Zombies Get the Blues. I love it. Thoughts?

Fantasy time-wasters quizzes
This week I spotted two fun quizzes for paranormal fans. First, the Guardian put together a quiz on literary dragons. I’m the person who took gothic lit and mythology classes in college, so I enjoyed it quite a bit. Expect questions on Tolkien, Narnia and Harry Potter, too.

The second tests your knowledge of kickass urban fantasy heroines from books, TV and movies. They’ve quoted favorites and it is your job to recognize classic lines like: “If the apocalypse comes, beep me.” and “This feels a little bit like what a vampire bar would look like if it were a ride at Disney World.”

Peek at a Larissa Ione cover shoot
Paranormal romance author Larissa Ione brings the sexy in her books. (Did you see Candace’s review of Immortal Rider?) Well, she’s already teasing us again. This time she posted photos from the cover shoot for Rogue Rider (that’d be book four in the Lords of Deliverance series, which will come out next winter).

Rogue Rider cover shoot

In addition to commenting on the hot-and-heavy nature of the cover shoot, Larissa teased this:

Also for those asking, you have not met the heroine yet. She’ll show up in the excerpt at the back of Lethal Rider. I can tell you that she’s very handy with a frying pan, and she might call Reseph “Fish Stick” once or twice… *g*

Another Chapter of A Perfect Blood posted
Yes, this week chapter 4 of Kim Harrison’s next The Hollows novel A Perfect Blood was added to the Harper Voyager site, alongside the first three. No excuses: You can now read the first four chapters of A Perfect Blood. (Pre-order A Perfect Blood)

Get the good stuff on the cheap
There are several really great deals on books this week, and what kind of friend would I be if I didn’t share?

Quite possibly the adult book I recommend the most is Unholy Ghosts by Stacia Kane. It’s the first book in her Downside Ghosts series, and the ebook version is just $0.99 right now. If you haven’t started this gritty, Orwellian urban fantasy series, now is the time.

Fans of Jeaniene Frost, Ilona Andrews and Meljean Brook can get shorts from all three in their anthology Under Her Skin for just $0.99 for a limited time. What to expect:

Three short stories of paranormal romance from bestselling authors Jeaniene Frost, Ilona Andrews, and Meljean Brook. ”Pack” by Jeaniene Frost brings you a tale of a lost hiker and her encounter with some very frightening–and sexy–wolves. A female werewolf helps a sheriff track down a killer “In Sheep’s Clothing” by Meljean Brook. A woman must repay her family’s debt to a shapeshifting magician in Ilona Andrew’s “Grace of Small Magics.” These stories previously appeared in print in the Mammoth Book of Paranormal Romance.

You can also get digital copies of the first books in series by Vicki Petterson (The Scent of Shadows) and Jocelynn Drake (Nightwalker) for $0.99.
