I gots Terrible fever, aye.

I gots Terrible fever, aye. You ready for more Downside Ghosts?

Sorry for the lack of post yesterday. I have a few reviews to get done for y’all, but I’m recovering from a concussion. (No, I don’t have a cool story. I fainted. It’s boring and, yet, still totally scary. I’m fine. But it limited my computer time and creativity.) I’m officially on the mend, and expect to have all sorts of reviews, features and giveaways right around the bend.

Get your Downside fix
I’ve been itching for more Downside Ghosts for nearly a year now. Stacia Kane’s series is one of my favorites, and this week we got a taste of what’s to come in book 4. The first half of Sacrificial Magic‘s Chapter 1 was posted up on Stellar Four. We get Chess playing teacher to a new debunker and cleaning up the ghostly mess created at the end of City of Ghosts (review). Sacrificial Magic doesn’t hit shelves until March 2011, but Amazon’s already letting us pre-order. And that’s nice.

In related Downside news, Stacia let us know the fifth book will be called Chasing Magic. I’d love to know what you guys think about the taste of book 4 and the book 5 title.

First chapter of Bloodlines
If you haven’t yet attacked it, the first chapter of Bloodlines, Richelle Mead’s Vampire Academy spinoff book featuring Sydney, Adrian and Jill, has been posted over at MTV.com. Go. Read. Report back. Are you excited to spending a novel with Sydney?

The Hollows Insider from Kim HarrisonOnly 2 books remain in the Sookie Stackhouse series
We all knew it was coming. I’ve heard Charlaine make references more than once, but word is officially out: Charlaine Harris plans to end the Sookie Stackhouse series with book 13. She told PopcornBiz: “I don’t go back to things once I’ve finished them. I don’t want to write Sookie after I get stale.”

And, if the comments on my joint review of Dead Reckoning are any indication, the Sookie fans are seeing things get stale. Charlaine is currently working on the 12th book and then plans to close things up in 13.

Hollows Insider sneak peek
I09 has exclusive images from the upcoming Hollows Insider. If these images are any indication, every fan of Kim Harrison’s Rachel Morgan books is going to be head-over-heels. Expect images of letters on Kalamack Industries letterhead, a recipe for cursing a wolf, Inderland Security documents and more. Plus, glow-in-the-dark poster. For serious. Check out the exclusives. The Hollows Insider is set to release on Oct. 25, 2011. It’s available for pre-order now.

Unearthly deleted scene
I may not have any sneak peeks a Hallowed just yet, but Cynthia Hand has shared a deleted scene from Unearthly (review). Turns out she’s originally planned for Clara to move in August, and thus was in town for Homecoming festivities. When that changed, this lovely scene at a powderpuff football game got the ax. Enjoy.

Southern Arcana read-along
Smexy Books, Fiction Vixen and the Book Pushers are teaming up to get everyone caught up on Moira Rogers’ Southern Arcana series in time for the release of Cypher (Southern Arcana #4). You can see the reading schedule, and enter to win the first book Crux (which I loved, BTW) over at Smexy Books.

Night Huntress novella available
Jeaniene Frost’s Happily Never After, a novella that originally appeared in a print anthology, is now available as a stand-alone ebook. And it only costs $1.99, whether you buy it from Amazon or B&N. (I like consistent pricing.) Here’s the official blurb:

Isabella Spaga is about to reluctantly walk down the aisle with Mr. Dangerously Wrong…but not if dashing vampire Chance has anything to say about it. As a favor to Bones, Chance has come to derail this wedding of beauty to the beast. Now if only he can keep his hands off the bride. From New York Times bestselling author Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress world, it’s the wedding of the season…that everyone wants to miss.

Third Paranormalcy book has a title
We’re on the cusp of the release of Supernaturally, the sequel to Kiersten White’s Paranormalcy. But we already know Evie’s story will continue with book three, titled Endlessly. Kiersten happily spilled the beans on the title, and it’s hard not to like it. Paranormalcy, Supernaturally, Endlessly — kind of has a ring to it, no?

One more Harry Potter laugh for the road
So, you remember last week when I said I was done with Harry Potter-related goodness in Book Bits? Big ol’ liar. Kristin from My Bookish Ways sent me over to Smosh.com to look at movie posters for hypothetical Harry Potter sequels. There are 20 up at Smosh, but here is one of my favorites:

Hufflepuff: A movie about fair play and badgers

CONTEST ROUNDUP

  1. Yeah, it’s time to put Sookie to rest. The last two books were kind of blah, at least to me. I will finish out the series though.

  2. Danielle says:

I call the last 2 Sookie books filler for whats to come I hust hope something comes. I’ll be reading series through till the end besides I’ve got to many reading hours into the series not to see where they all end up.

  3. Kristin says:

Hmmmm…I wonder where you got that Hufflepuff pic;)

  4. @Jennifer and Danielle — Yep, the last two have felt like filler. I’m expecting some good closure in the final books.

@Kristin — You know it says you sent me that link, right? 😉

  5. Maralynn says:

You couldn’t pay me to iongre these posts!
