The Uninvited by Sophie Jordan

We’re gearing up for the Alpha Showdown around here. This time next week we’ll be talking alphas, reasons they’re awesome and generally having a good time. We also have reviews of some epic books scheduled amid the Showdown meleeHope you guys are as excited as we are.

Tiny Tease from Nalini Singh
We still don’t know who the main characters in Nalini Singh’s upcoming Psy/Changeling novel Heart of Obsidian are. We can guess. Oh, Lord, can we guess. While we have to wait until June 4 for the book to release, Nalini did share a wee snippet from the book. No names of course, but like every little bit we get about this book it makes us speculate. We advise pre-ordering this one.

Start of a New Series from Sophie Jordan
I really enjoy Sophie Jordan’s writing. If you haven’t tried Firelight, I highly recommend it. (Dragons! YA! Swooning!) It’s time for her to move on to a new series. The description for this one makes me think of a genetic version of Minority Report, which absolutely piques my interest. Check out the cover to the right and the blurb below.

You can’t change your DNA…even when it says you’re a murderer.

When Davy tests positive for Homicidal Tendency Syndrome, aka “the kill gene,” she loses everything. Once the perfect high school senior, she is uninvited from her prep school and abandoned by her friends and boyfriend. Even her parents are now afraid of her—although she’s never hurt a fly. Davy doesn’t feel any differently, but genes don’t lie. One day she will kill someone.

Without any say in the matter, Davy is thrown into a special class for HTS carriers. She has no doubt the predictions are right about them, especially Sean, who already bears the “H” tattoo as proof of his violence. Yet when the world turns on the carriers, Sean is the only one she can trust. Maybe he’s not as dangerous as he seems. Or maybe Davy is just as deadly.

Lauren Dane Brings the Nom. Again.
Did I just find the cover art and back cover copy for Lauren Dane’s fourth Bound by Magick novel Wild Darkness? Yes. Does it look super yummy? Yes.

Wild Darkness by Lauren Dane

Lauren Dane’s “fresh, fun, fast-paced”* series comes to a thrilling conclusion as the heat of all out war fans the fires of an otherworldly romance…

The bombing that almost killed Owen witch Molly Ryan has worsened the tensions between the humans and the Others. While the Others desperately campaign to prevent the passage of a law that would strip their people of all rights, the human separatists develop an agenda far worse than anyone imagined. With her position more precarious than ever, security head Helena Jaansen finds herself relying more and more heavily on her personal guard, Faine Leviathan, and, despite her better instincts, falling more deeply into the intimate connection that they share.

As Helena and Faine’s explosive passion grows, a deadly separatist plot is discovered, one which could bring ultimate destruction for the Others, and war breaks out between the two opposing factions. With the Others forced into hiding, Helena must overcome her fear of repeating past failures to save her people—and her heart—before it’s too late…

The wait for Heart of Obsidian is going to kill me. Seriously. June 4th will roll around and I’ll be flat on the floor.

Perhaps I ought to start the Bound by Magick series to hold me over…I’ve enjoyed her Delicious and Brown Siblings books.

Sophie Jordan’s new book sounds mighty interesting. I couldn’t find it on Amazon for pre-order. Do you have a publishing date?

Nalini is on my auto-buy list. Loved the snippet and can’t wait for June to come!
