Book Bits: Richelle Mead, Michelle Rowen, Kim Harrison, Jenna Black & Lauren Dane

We’ve gone too long without a proper Book Bits post. (Did you miss it? Let me know, because your preferences do dictate content here at VBC.) To make up for the hiatus I’ve made the theme of this post kissing. Yep. You may swoon in three, two, one…

The Indigo Spell teaser trailers
I’m all sorts of excited about the next Bloodlines novel from Richelle Mead. Third books are her trademark. They’re always epic and heartbreaking and visceral. I’m eager. Penguin Australia is doing a series of teaser trailers for the book. This is awesome. Mostly. I’m not a fan of the actors in it, but the things they say are what matters right? Oh, and the kissing. I’m so embedding the video with all the kissing. (I like these actors better when they’re doing that…. That sounded wrong, but I think you understand me.) See all the trailers here, or just watch the smoochy-smoochy one below.

Speaking of Kissing…
I’m looking forward to reading Michelle Rowen’s next Nightwatchers book Wicked Kiss. I got all swoon-y over the hero in the first book. If you’re anxious for more forbidden kisses (it’s YA), check out the first two chapters of Wicked Kiss, which releases on Feb. 26.

Ever After Excerpt
The third chapter of Kim Harrison’s upcoming The Hollows novel Ever After is available online for your reading pleasure. You missed Rachel, didn’t you? Me, too. The book is slated for release next Tuesday, Jan. 22, you can pre-order it now.

A Taste of Pros and Cons
Jenna Black shared a snippet from her upcoming Nikki Glass digital-only novella Pros and Cons over at Deadline Dames. The novella, which releases on Feb. 25, is set between Deadly Descendant and the upcoming Rogue Descendant. If you’re eager for more Nikki, this one should help tide you over until the next book hits the shelves.

Are You Ready for Going Under?
If you’re in love with Lauren Dane’s Bound by Magick series (first book Heart of Darkness), you’ll want to read this excerpt for Going Under. The third book in the series will release next month. Also, continuing today’s Book Bits trend, there is kissing in this scene. Prepare yourself!

I did miss it! I scrolled through VBC the other night looking to see if I’d somehow missed ’em. Please keep Book Bits!

As for the Indigo Spell trailer, hooo boy, is that thing awful. I’m pretty sure whoever wrote and directed that thing never actually read the book. A wussy Sydney? An extremely cheesy Adrian? If the characters were actually like that, I wouldn’t want to read the book!

  2. Angela says:

I missed the book bits too and hope you’ll continue these. Quite often these lead me to new authors as well.

And YES, I missed Rachel (and Al, Trent, Jenks + Ivy…lol) and am counting down the days! 🙂

  3. JessS says:

Oh my god I so have to agree about the voices for the Indigo Spell teaser trailers! They just don’t sound quite right (I think the accents are too strong or something) but I am loving the quotes and everything!

  4. Amy M says:

I love Book Bits. It’s something I look forward to every week and I’ve missed it during its hiatus.

  5. Thanks for the feedback everyone. Book Bits posts don’t generate a ton of comments, and I wanted to make sure you guys really enjoyed them. I’d like to bring it back into regular rotation (every Thursday).

@Megan and JessS – I don’t think the accents are the problem. They just… shouldn’t talk. But I’m loving the insight into THE INDIGO SPELL and the quotes are excellent.

  6. I completely agree with you and all the others about the Indigo Spell trailer. While it is exciting to see, the dialogue is very awkward. But, I’m not complaining about the smoochy scenes! Glad you featured that one. Also, I love Book Bits…something I look forward to each week.

  7. Stacey says:

Love Book Bits! Thank you for doing them. = )

  8. Joanna says:

I enjoy Book Bits. And I am looking forward to the next Kim Harrison book. Will this be the one Rachel and Trent finally hook-up? Also, I do appreciate those trying in the trailer, but I found it hard to understand what it was that Adrian (it was supposed to be Adrian, right?) was saying.
