Currently Reading: Crusade

Crusade by Nancy Holder and Debbie ViguiéWith so many great releases for September, I’m already feeling behind. A headache coupled with a stomach bug wracked your lovely Vampire Book Club blogger at the end of last week, and that meant nearly three days without reading.

Things are looking up now. We’re feeling much better and devouring Crusade, the opener to a new vampire series from Nancy Holder and Debbie Viguié (read our Waiting on Wednesday post). If you read their Wicked series following feuding witches and warlocks, the book will feel familiar.

I’m just over 200 pages into Crusade (it’s a longer one at 470 pages), but the book follows the same format of swapping point-of-view among several characters in different places and times. I really like our lead character Jenn. I’m also hopeful that in the second half I’ll get more of Jenn’s quite conflicted kind-of boyfriend Antonio. I think I like him, but will need a little more time with him to know for sure.

Expect a review in the next couple days.

Your turn. What are you reading right now?

I’m not quite halfway through with Fatal Circle by Linda Robertson. It’s really GREAT so far!

I’m reading Hunger by Michael Grant, the second book in the Gone series. More mutations and super powers arise, enjoying it so far.

I just finished (like 5 minutes ago) reading Blameless by Gail Carriger. I liked it a lot and the series will always be a favorite for me but it wasn’t as alluring as the first two. I still can’t wait for the fourth book though!

I agree. A comment should say more than just great post. In fact, why would you say great post without explaining your reason behind your words? Why not back up what you’re saying and get people to interact with that? If you’re going to leave a comment it’s because you want to express how you feel to the author of the post and to whomever may read your comment and decide to add on to it further.
