December Group Read: Some Girls Bite by Chloe Neill (Chicagoland Vampires #1)

Vampire Book Club Group ReadWe have had Some Girls Bite on our to-read list for a very long time. Good friends have said we’ll love the action, the vampires and an apparent hottie named Ethan.

We’re doing things a little differently for the group read this month.Vampire Book Club is gearing up for the big 2011 Winter Book Preview, which starts tomorrow. We’re spending the rest of the month packing the site with early reviews, author interviews and giveaways. That means covering discussion posts throughout the month is a little hard to swing by ourselves.

But the answer was easy. We love The Spinecracker. She likes us, too. (Can you guess where this is going?) We’re teaming up with The Spinecracker for the December group read of Chloe Neill’s first Chicagoland Vampires book Some Girls Bite. We’re still going to review the book and will co-host the end-of-the-month chat, but The Spinecraker is going to host the discussion post (we’ll link to the latter when we have it).

Some Girls Bite by Chloe NeillFirst in a brand new series about a Chicago graduate student’s introduction into a society of vampires.

Sure, the life of a graduate student wasn’t exactly glamorous, but it was Merit’s. She was doing fine until a rogue vampire attacked her. But he only got a sip before he was scared away by another bloodsucker and this one decided the best way to save her life was to make her the walking undead.

Turns out her savior was the master vampire of Cadogan House. Now she’s traded sweating over her thesis for learning to fit in at a Hyde Park mansion full of vamps loyal to Ethan “Lord o’ the Manor” Sullivan. Of course, as a tall, green-eyed, four-hundred- year-old vampire, he has centuries’ worth of charm, but unfortunately he expects her gratitude and servitude. But an inconvenient sunlight allergy and Ethan’s attitude are the least of her concerns. Someone’s still out to get her. Her initiation into Chicago’s nightlife may be the first skirmish in a war and there will be blood.

We’re really excited for this one, and we’re also really confident you’ll like chatting it up with The Spinecracker’s readers, too.

Very excited for this group read. I just finished reading this book a couple of weeks ago and absolutely loved it! Immediately went out and bought the next two books and can’t wait for #4 in May 🙂

  2. Vanessa- It really speaks volumes about the series that you went straight out and purchased the rest of the books at once. I’m so excited to read it! Hope to see you there.

  3. Kati says:

SO far so good! I agree with Jessica that someone who truly loves this book with immediately go out and get the next two!! That is how I felt about Twilight! and when I got New Moon there were only two copies in the young adult section! Goes to show how long ago I bought that book!

  4. Marivangeli says:

I’m new in this book club but I wanted to comment that the book is really good 🙂

  5. Sue says:

This is the first time I’ve come to this book club but I’m impressed with the quality of the group reads!! I love these books and have read and re-read them too many times to count now. I’m impatient for the next one in May but will have to keep re-reading them until then to get my fix!!
