Chelsea/VBC with Lothaire. Yes, be jealous, that is a vampire's arm wrapped around me.
Yesterday Kresley Cole’s latest Immortals After Dark book — the OMG-I-need-it-now Lothaire — hit stores. In celebration for the book so many have craved, she is doing a brief book tour. The first stop was on release day in Dallas. And, for you, I went.
Kresley decided to bring along the cover model for Lothaire, Paul Marron. Now, I can’t say enough how much I love my husband or how hot he is, but I still got all sorts of excited at seeing the model dressed up as Lothaire, red contacts and all. (See photo*)
For those who are hoping to hit the next tour stops, here’s what I learned from the Dallas signing:
1. Though Kresley spoke of a “tipsy Q&A” with champagne in special flutes, there was no Q&A. A few people had flutes, but no one told us where to get them, etc. I don’t think this is a fault on Kresley’s part. The bookstore had poor signage for her event in general. Unfortunately, this means I wasn’t able to ask when we’ll get Nix’s book. I expect she knows we want it, though.
2. She personalized books, despite the bookstore saying she wouldn’t. Lesson learned: Kresley Cole loves you more than stupid rules.
3. Paul Marron is about 10 times hotter in person. Really. Breath-stealingly hot. Can’t emphasize this enough. Make sure to get a good look while moving forward in line so that you can be all cool when you actually meet him. He’s very sweet. (And he was eager to put his arm around me for photos, which made for an exceptional experience.)
4. Smaller turnout than expected. I arrived an hour in advance and still was done with the signing and photo ops in under an hour from start time. It may have just been because it was a Tuesday night in a less than ideal location.
5. Kresley is giving away e-readers for each tour stop. Make sure to find the sign-up sheet. Details about all of the events are on her Facebook page.
So, the important takeaways here: Kresley Cole is incredibly nice, considerate and brings the man candy to the book signings. If you live near any of the following locations, I suggest you make time to hit up the Lothaire book signing stops:

Oh, and your reward for reading to the end? I had both Kresley Cole and that gorgeous man playing Lothaire sign a hardcover copy of Lothaire for one VBC reader.
* I did take a picture with Kresley, but for some reason I look about 15 years old in it. It’s going into the “private” collection of other terrible photos of me. Besides, you guys just want to ogle the man candy.

This is one of the times when I truly curse that fact that I live in Europe! I never ever get to go to signings and meet my favorite authors because 90% of them are North Americans.. Ah, well I would probably be star struck and make a fool of myself anyway so it’s probably for the best (there HAS to be a silver lining right?)!

I agree with Akinna, living in EU sucks sometimes, especially right now. Let’s start our own fanclub, I’ve spread the IAD virus to so many of my friends… and if they dont like it, I feed them transistorradio’s 😉

Thanks for the info… You just made my day! Called stupid BAM & they said no personalized signs & no pics. Which hurt my heart, considering I’ve met Kresley previously @ her Deep Kiss of Winter signing where she gave me a GO Gators! in my book (we both attended UF) and happily posed for pics. Walgreens overexposed those however, leading me to throw a tremendous, sobbing, yelling fit and left me w/ no pics from that day. Happy that I will have a chance to rectify this on Sat, where I will be using a DIGITAL camera.

So, unfortunately the B&N employees last night informed us (and about 50 other people) incorrectly. Kresley did a Q&A after signing everyone’s books. You were supposed to stay after the signing and photo ops for the Q&A. So, if you’re attending the future book stops — stay late and you’ll get the Q&A.

There was some miscommunication at my event (obviously). However, my understanding is that she will DEFINITELY sign Lothaire, but will do backlist novels, too, if time permits. So bring them and hope for the best.
