Love Letter to Vlad (Jeaniene Frost’s Night Prince series)

I’ve been a long-time fan of Jeaniene Frost’s books. I’ve been a fan of Bones since before Chapter 32. Then there was Vlad. I wasn’t smitten with him until Once Burned hit shelves last year, then I understood why he earned a spinoff series.

However, VBC’s Candace has been in love with Vlad since he first stepped on page in the Night Huntress books. She’s dedicated to him. I had to let her write a Character Love Letters post for him, because no one loves that vampire the way Candace loves him. Really.

You know you want Vlad.My Dearest Vlad,

I’m sorry it has taken so long to write this letter. I tracked down the Street Peasant. Yes, I realize you two aren’t on the best of terms, but Jeaniene is working on Cat and Bones #7 right now and it makes sense that he would be hanging out at her house. He said that he would made an attempt to green eye her into changing Leila’s name, but it would cost me. He truly is a mercenary bastard, but I owe him two crates of gin. Apparently, Cat really likes the stuff.

I’ve come to terms with the fact that women want you. I knew the fascination would start with your first appearance in At Grave’s End. And with the publication of Once Burned last year, the fangirls really came out of the woodwork. With the Twice Tempted around the corner, your following is sure to grow. But don’t worry, I’ve got diversion tactics worked out. I got a funny email from someone a couple of weeks ago (by any chance, are you familiar with a Liam Flannery?) and this guy nicely offered to teach me how to green eye. I explained that I am not a vampire and I can’t exactly pull it off, but I do have green eyes. He was amused by this and offered to make it worth my while. He even called me poppet. Wow, these British vampires are fond of their nicknames, aren’t they?

I’ve also constructed a letter (with documentation backing up my facts, of course) for Jeaniene. I am explaining the fact that princes (even former warlord princes) probably aren’t going to fall for gymnasts and that she should change a few plot details. They probably use BenGay a lot and, really, you wouldn’t want that smell around the castle.

You also need to know that there are Vlad T-shirts available on Jeaniene’s website. I was quite distressed by this. Do other women really need to be wearing shirts that say Vlad’s marshmallow? I think not. That title belongs to me. I may have ordered a Vlad’s Showhound shirt though. It’s cute. You should see it.

I must go now, my dear. The letter to Jeaniene is up to twenty-seven pages now. If I don’t go edit this, she will be too busy reading to finish Up From the Grave. Now go impale some people, catch some stuff on fire and rest easy. I’ll be there soon.

Love,
Candace

You are a hoot, Candace! Great job! I know how you feel. I am myself a Bones girl and although I only got interested in Vlad when reading “Once Burned”, I am still torn and would feel like I’m betraying Bones if I give into temptation in the person of a certain “prince”. 😉 Cannot wait to read “Twice Tempted” and “Up From the Grave”!

    • Candace says:

Thank you very much! I know what you mean – Twice Tempted can not get here soon enough and neither can Up From the Grave!

  9. Catherine Scott says:

Nice to see I’m not the only nut. Lol
