Evalle is part of a band of supernatural warriors called the Beladors. They fight against anything that harms humanity, which usually takes the form of black magic witches. She happens to be an Alterant (half-Belador, half-mystery), which makes her the black sheep of the Belador tribe.

All known Alterants have gone crazy, transformed into a gigantic beasts and killed everyone around them. So you can see why people would be worried. Someone in her city is trying to frame her for murder, and she has to catch them and get proof of her innocence before the Belador tribunal hears about the kills.

Evalle is awesome. She is snarky, badass and powerful. She has a seriously mysterious past, which you don’t get the whole picture of. With no hints as to her heritage, I assume that the mystery non-Belador half will be the topic of future books. The world is still very primitive in development, but it might get more solid as we progress through the series.

There’s one thing that you have to ignore while reading Blood Trinity though, and it’s the fact that there will be references to past events and character’s histories that sounds like you’re supposed to know what the reference is. As far as I can tell, there is no prequel book or series that you’re supposed to have read before this book. (Please, let me know if there is, as I am still very confused.) But as long as you are able to just go with the flow and ignore the fact that you have absolutely no idea what these people are talking about 40 percent of the time, then it’s really an excellent book.

Evalle has two big-brother type friends, Quinn (the suave, sexy, pretty boy) and Tzader (the badass, man’s man). I really liked these two and REALLY wanted to understand their pasts that we kept getting glimpses of; maybe this will be part of future books?

There are also two possible love interests, Storm and Isak. Isak appears to be human with a chip on his shoulder for all non-humans, so I’m sure that will provide lots of shenanigans for the future. Storm seems secretive and really down to Earth. Honestly, he seems so perfect that I’m sure it won’t work out, but we’ll see.

If you can get past the glaring confusion, the hastily built world, and the random references to the past, then Blood Trinity is really excellent and this series has some serious potential to knock your socks off. I’ll be grabbing the next book to see if the series can live up to the potential.
