I love my dark and twisty urban fantasy, watching teenage emotions come head to head with the paranormal in YA or getting swept off my feet by alpha heroes in paranormal romance, but occasionally it’s nice to have a change of pace. Along came an Audible U.K. sale and my introduction to Molly Harper’s Alaskan werewolves.
A wonderful mix of supernatural hijinks and chick-lit style romantic pitfalls, How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf joins Mo as she makes the decision to move as far away from her overbearing hippie parents as she can without changing citizenship. Swapping the Deep South for the Great White North, Mo settles in the small town of Grundy, Alaska. If it’s a choice between listening to her mother lecture her about the merits of a healthy colon or grizzly bears, Mo’s willing to take her chances with the bears.
The supernatural element takes a backseat in the first half of the book, as the story concentrates on Mo settling into her new home and getting to know the residents of Grundy. It reminded me a lot of the early Sookie Stackhouse books with a cast of colorful characters who have known each other forever and a town that becomes a character in its own right. I instantly liked Mo. She’s funny, down to earth and determined to live her own life. She has to work to be accepted but it doesn’t take long for her to win over the tight-knit community over. All but one: the monosyllabic, rude and downright yummy Cooper. These two rub each other up in such a way that you just knowing going to get good and steamy.
While primarily this is relatively lighthearted read, there’s also a intriguing mystery that injects some action into Mo’s world. Saved by a wolf from a situation that is rapidly turning from bad to worse, Mo can’t help but feel a connection with her furry savior. When Cooper turns up on her doorstep naked with a bear trap attached to his leg, she starts to put two and two together, however impossible it seems. It’s not all fun and games though when a spate of wolf attacks sweep the town. Cooper may be antisocial but is he dangerous?
Witty laugh out loud moments, family issues werewolf style and characters you’ll want to share a meal with, How to Flirt with a Naked Werewolf is a sweet fun romance that made me happy reading it. I really recommend the audio version, as the narrator Amanda Ronconi does a fantastic job of bringing this world to life. Not only have I already snapped up the next in this series, but Molly Harper is going to the top of my reading pile next time I need some fun in my reading life!

I listened to this as an audiobook. I really enjoyed it. It is a lighthearted read that made me chuckle. I recommend it.
I’ve read all of Harper’s books, and this is one of my favorites! A fun and light hearted read. Not much for audiobooks, however, I may check it out because you peaked my interest!

Molly Harper is a fun read. I’ve read both werewolf books and her vampire series. Good stuff.
