Marty Andrews had just made ‘Lavender’ at Bobbie-Sue Cosmetics and thought she was on her way to earning her sky blue convertible. Door-to-door cosmetics may not be the most glamorous career out there, but Marty put a lot of effort into her color wheel skills and managed to score some big accounts. With two new reps, Nina and Wanda, working for her, she had it all. That was before she got bit by a mysterious mutt one night.

Usually when you get bit by a stray, the dog doesn’t turn up on the door step the next day to apologize. When Keegan, now a human, tried to explain to Marty that his bite had more consequences than a just a course of antibiotics, she thought he was crazy, hot, but also crazy. The sudden hair growth, volatile temper, and cravings for raw meat, could all be explained away by stress, since werewolves are not real. But when Marty sprouted a tail, even she had to admit that Keegan’s story might have some credibility.

The Accidental Werewolf got exciting when Marty was kidnapped and managed to kick her way out of a locked car trunk. Maybe this werewolf thing wasn’t so bad after all. After the threats on Marty started piling up, Keegan insisted on keeping Marty with him at his home in upstate New York, far away from all her customers.

Already on edge because of her werewolf hormones, Marty then had to deal with losing her clients, threats on her life, being part of a pack, and trying to learn to shift.  However, it was the tension between her and Keegan that really messed with her head. All that time together showed Marty that Keegan had some secrets the pack leader was not telling.  The story would not be complete without a love triangle, some misunderstandings, and an out-of-nowhere twist.

While the book bordered on predictable, it was still really cute and laugh-out-loud funny. This was not a serious or intense book, by any means. The Accidental Werewolf is a lighthearted, paranormal romance that keeps the pace up and dialogue snappy.  This was a great start to series with plenty of places to go.

Sexual content: If you have never read a Dakota Cassidy book, be warned. She puts the “oh my goodness, I did not just read that,” into a sex scene.  So, yes, there is graphic sex.

I’ll have to add this to my TBR list. It sounds like it would be a cute, light, fun read.

  3. I’ve got this one waiting on me on my Nook. I need to move it up my TBR pile.
