Paranormal romance appeals because it brings the heat. The men are so hot, they smolder. The women soften up werewolves, vampires, warlocks, beasts of all kinds, just by introducing them to love. But once in awhile, a paranormal romance author will accomplish the heat and have his/her readers doubled over in humor. Welcome to the world of Accidentally Yours

The heroine of Vampires Need Not…Apply? is Ixtab, goddess of suicide (yes, suicide). Centuries ago, she fell in love with a human and lost him, keeping herself free of entanglements in order to avoid losing someone else. Enter Dr. Antonio Acero, seemingly normal human scientist/man-whore extraordinaire. He goes through a lot of women, which immediately puts off Ixtab. So naturally, the conflict is born.

I cannot possibly put in one review all of the reasons you should read Vampires Need Not…Apply? Mimi Jean Pamfiloff is a master, perfectly balancing hotness (Antonio is just the tip of the iceberg) and humor. No kidding, I put down my Kindle several times because I laughed myself to tears. Gathering the gods together for a serious discussion is like expecting the same from kids with ADD, after chocolate, in the middle of a Toys R Us. Pamfiloff’s snark and humor put her in the same class as Nicole Peeler and Darynda Jones.

Now, back to Antonio and Ixtab. She’s been around forever—literally. And, she’s a virgin. *gasp* Yep. Virgin meet woman magnet, who happens to look like the man you lost centuries ago. You guys need to sit back and enjoy a bowl of popcorn with this one.

Also, there are side stories going on. Emma’s grandma (who reminds me a lot of La Dorada from Kresley Cole’s Immortals After Dark series) is slightly evil, the guys are still trapped with Chaam (who is still evil), there are pregnancies, Kinich is *cue the elevator music because I’m not telling that in case you haven’t read the series* and Cimil. That, my friends, is a one word explanation for chaos, mayhem and debauchery.

You get the characters from prior books, you have anticipation and sexual chemistry, you want Ixtab and Antonio together and the icing on top of this paranormal romance cupcake is the snark.
