Karen Mahoney Guest Post & Giveaway: Xan’s love letter to Donna

As you read yesterday, I loved Karen Mahoney’s latest novel The Wood Queen. The just-released-today novel has a love interest who can be incredibly sweet and gentlemanly. He can also be a bit infuriating at times. Xan is often shirtless. The letter below isn’t spoiler-y, so if you’ve yet to read The Iron Witch, you’re safe, too. Read on as Xan tries to be romantic and write Donna a love letter. Bonus: We’re giving away a signed copy of The Wood Queen at the end of the post. . . . → Click here to continue reading Karen Mahoney Guest Post & Giveaway: Xan’s love letter to Donna

Karina Cooper Q&A & Giveaway: Magic, Seattle and happily-ever-afters

As you may have gathered from my early review of Karina Cooper’s All Things Wicked (which hits stores today), I’m a bit enamored with her Dark Mission series. She has the attributes I look for in all my favorite authors: precise writing, remarkable character development worth getting invested in and both creative and gritty world-building. So, of course, I had to pick her brain on just how New Seattle was formed, what makes her characters a good match and real uses for pyrokinetic abilities. . . . → Click here to continue reading Karina Cooper Q&A & Giveaway: Magic, Seattle and happily-ever-afters

Early Review: All Things Wicked by Karina Cooper (Dark Mission #3)

The more I read the Dark Mission series, the more apparent is is: Karina Cooper does paranormal romance/urban fantasy crossover right. In the third book All Things Wicked we’re brought back into the bowels of Old Seattle. The dilapidated and crumbling buildings. The damp and the cold. The dark secrets buried amid the earthquake ruins a city just built over. . . . → Click here to continue reading Early Review: All Things Wicked by Karina Cooper (Dark Mission #3)

Review: Street Magic by Caitlin Kittredge (Black London #1)

There’s excellent foreshadowing and a creative plot in Street Magic. The dynamic between Pete and Jack is gripping. At times it’s witty, others visceral, but always emotional. Caitlin Kittredge creates such a dynamic world with more questions than answers, which can only allow her Black London series to explode. . . . → Click here to continue reading Review: Street Magic by Caitlin Kittredge (Black London #1)

Giveaway: Signed copy of Silver-Tongued Devil by Jaye Wells

I’m lucky to have Jaye Wells living in the same metro area, because I get to visit her book signings often. (Really, the woman is probably sick of me.) Last Friday night she held a fun signing event for the just-released fourth Sabina Kane novel, Silver-Tongued Devil. In addition to nabbing my own signed copy, I picked up one just for VBC readers. . . . → Click here to continue reading Giveaway: Signed copy of Silver-Tongued Devil by Jaye Wells

Review: Lure of the Wicked by Karina Cooper (Dark Mission #2)

Each time I read a Karina Cooper novel, I’m struck by the beautiful, precise and visceral writing. The visuals are striking, the emotions intense and the characters unerringly real. Basically, it’s impossible not to get sucked into the Dark Mission novels.
