Would you rather date a vampire or a werewolf?

logo
Ian Somerhalder: He plays a vampire you know.

He plays a vampire, you know.

In this month’s group read Crimson Moon, Emma finds herself torn between the vampire world she’s meant to join and being with werewolves who make her feel secure and at home. Add into the mix overwhelming feelings for a hot werewolf and, later, the introduction of a similarly handsome vampire and you have some hard choices. (Read our review for more details on the novel.)

All things equal — they both kill (no vegetarians or pacifists) and neither are inherently bad or good — would you want to be with a vampire or a werewolf? Or neither, you like ’em demonic, fallen or fae?

Our answer is a gimme. We’d pick vampire. The mental stuff that would go with a vampire, biting, speed — all that we dig. In our Q&A with Crimson Moon’s author J.A. Saare, she went werewolf.

J.A. Saare: I’ve always been a werewolf gal. *grin* There is something so intriguing about a man with a wild animal that he carries within. While I do think that vampires are captivating in their own right, I’ve always preferred heroes who shift forms, howl at the moon, and have an instinctual propensity to protect those they love.

We’re including a poll for those to shy to comment, but we’d love for you to tell us which supernatural side you’re on and why in the comments. Also, yes, the picture of Ian Somerhalder is a blatant attempt to remind you of the overwhelming hotness of vampires.

Update: If we ask you to choose between True Blood’s Eric (Alexander Skarsgard) or Alcide (Joe Manganiello), does that make it harder? (We’d ask about the book versions, but really, you better choose Eric in the books if you’ve read to Dead to the World.)

I voted Vamp because they are sexier to me. Caleb and Trent, that is a hard decision to make. Those too guys are hot and I love them both, but I would choose Trent. He seems naughty, and I like naughty. 😉

  2. Jaime says:

    Love me some werewolves! 😉

  3. Juliaunna says:

i like vampires lol . Sexy yumminess lol

  4. amanda says:

I voted vampire but to be honest….I’m torn. I love both but the immortality factor of most vampires along with the knowledge they gain over time, pushes me to vote for them.

  5. Shannon says:

I voted vampire too, I like naughty. Bones = Naughty! 🙂

  6. Bells says:

For the new pool I am choosing Alcide! I have got a thing for that man something fierce! Yes I choose a were this time!

  7. Vamps!! All the way. Though I do see the deliciousness of weres too 🙂

  8. Jackie H says:

Ignore Bells!! Vamp all the way!!!! Go Eric!!! *angel face*

  9. I love my sexy vampires and all, but I’d hate to be a snack for them or their enemies. Also not to fond of the living forever and drinking blood deal. Would much rather go with a sexy beast that gets furry every now and then.

  10. ERika says:

Would rather have a werewolf than a vamp but would rather have Eric than Alcide. How’s that for inconsistent for you

  11. Denise says:

Werewolf they can go out in day light which would make it fun for nice suuny vacations.

  12. Angelica says:

NO doubt about it I’d choose vamp every time if I ever got that decision. Vamps are sexy, weres are furry.

I will address your update first. No one in the TV show is attractive to me. I understand Alan Ball has his own vision and that’s fine, but it is so far away from the book characters, I see no resemblance at all. The story line is terrible and the casting even worse. From that world, I would pick (book)Bill Compton and no one else.

As to other vampires, Mencheres and Bones are tops for me. In that order. Sexy beyond belief and so much more. Before I read Patty Briggs’ Mercy Thompson books, I would have chosen vampires, hands down. But, Adam, Bran and Darryl have brought wolves up to tie in first place for me. I’m not sure I could choose. If a choice is necessary, I suppose it would be wolves by a hair. Pun intended. I think I like the warmth. But, it’s a very close call.

  14. Debbie says:

I chose were’s – hate blood. JC being the exception. But I like Patty Briggs books too. I don’t think I could have chosen between Adam and Samuel.

  15. Dragon says:

centaur or possibly WereHawk. Is both an option?

  16. Marquetta says:

I love werewolves because they are warm-bodied, can eat regular food (lol!)and you can still get bitten when they nip you to mark you as their own. A win-win situation if you ask me.

  17. Nachtangel says:

I’m gonna have to go with Vamps too, although a bit of wild fun with a werewolf would not get turned down. As for Eric or Alcide, I’m sorry is there any contest? I loved Alcide at first but as the books when on I hated him, Eric all the way. Who doesn’t want a Viking god? (side note when I first wrote that it came out viking dog >.< its unholy goats all over again XD)
Howver I must say I do love Carter & Jerome in Richelle Meads Georgina Kincaid series, so angels and demons are pretty damn good too 🙂

  18. misssandradee says:

just love those bitey vamps – Eric any day of the week!!

  19. Denise K. Rago says:

I just have this thing for vampires!

  20. E&BFAN says:

Went with Vamps, but if faced with Eric or Alcide, I’d choose Alcide. Not a fan of Eric! Even before the show started I read Southern Vampire Series he was not on my list then either. Sorry Eric fans.
