A couple weeks ago I joked on Twitter that I was in need of a book boyfriend Advent calendar. There was quite a bit of “yes, please!” from others, but no one could find a good one. Clearly, this was up to me. So, to make the chaotic holiday season a little more fun and a lot more sexy, we’re going to feature a book boyfriend every day for the next 25 days.
That’s right. Welcome to VBC’s 25 Days of Book Boyfriends.
As I said in our Best Books of 2015 post, I didn’t realize I needed Naasir to have his own novel in Nalini Singh’s Guild Hunter series until I read Archangel’s Enigma (VBC review | Amazon). His curious nature and exploration of love is utterly engaging, and despite his clear understanding that Andromeda is meant to be his, he’s very respectful of her not accepting that fact.
He wants to prove himself to her and be the right kind of man. His attempts are not necessary (he’s totally right for her!), but endearing nonetheless. See what I mean by reading Archangel’s Enigma:
Naasir is the most feral of the powerful group of vampires and angels known as the Seven, his loyalty pledged to the Archangel Raphael. When rumors surface of a plot to murder the former Archangel of Persia, now lost in the Sleep of the Ancients, Naasir is dispatched to find him. For only he possesses the tracking skills required—those more common to predatory animals than to man.
Enlisted to accompany Naasir, Andromeda, a young angelic scholar with dangerous secrets, is fascinated by his nature—at once playful and brilliant, sensual and brutal. As they race to find the Sleeping archangel before it’s too late, Naasir will force her to question all she knows…and tempt her to walk into the magnificent, feral darkness of his world. But first they must survive an enemy vicious enough to shatter the greatest taboo of the angelic race and plunge the world into a screaming nightmare…
I loved Naasir. He is my favorite of the Guild Hunter characters.
I loved “Archangel’s Enigma” as I do all of Nalini’s books. This Guild Hunter novel was different in tone and had a unique “feel” to it – in keeping with Naasir, who’s literally on-of-a-kind!
