25 Days of Book Boyfriends: Terrible (Downside Ghosts)

25 Days of Book Boyfriends at Vampire Book ClubA couple weeks ago I joked on Twitter that I was in need of a book boyfriend Advent calendar. There was quite a bit of “yes, please!” from others, but no one could find a good one. Clearly, this was up to me. So, to make the chaotic holiday season a little more fun and a lot more sexy, we’re going to feature a book boyfriend every day for the next 25 days.

That’s right. Welcome to VBC’s 25 Days of Book Boyfriends.

Most of the other characters on this list are of the supernatural sort. We have plenty of vampires and werewolves and fae to go around here at VBC, but sometimes we get swoony for the human making it work in a magical world without preternatural skills. That’s the case for Terrible from Stacia Kane’s Downside Ghosts series.

The VBC team is hooked on this series, and we’re all victims of Terrible Fever: a heady condition of overwhelming love for the gruff enforcer and heroine Chess’s love interest. Snag a copy of Unholy Ghosts (VBC review) to meet him:

Unholy Ghosts by Stacia Kane // VBCTHE DEPARTED HAVE ARRIVED.

The world is not the way it was. The dead have risen, and the living are under attack. The powerful Church of Real Truth, in charge since the government fell, has sworn to reimburse citizens being harassed by the deceased. Enter Chess Putnam, a fully tattooed witch and freewheeling ghost hunter. She’s got a real talent for banishing the wicked dead.

But Chess is keeping a dark secret: She owes a lot of money to a murderous drug lord named Bump, who wants immediate payback in the form of a dangerous job that involves black magic, human sacrifice, a nefarious demonic creature, and enough wicked energy to wipe out a city of souls. Toss in lust for a rival gang leader and a dangerous attraction to Bump’s ruthless enforcer, and Chess begins to wonder if the rush is really worth it.

Hell, yeah.

  1. Thanks for doing the 25 Days of Book Boyfriends, Chelsea. Great idea! I was just wondering, are these “boyfriends” in any particular order, like favorites first? I’m guessing not, but just curious. Happy Holidays!

  2. Ah, Terrible. I so miss him. I waiting somewhat patiently *wrings hands* for the next Downside book. I do believe I saw that there would be more. I really hope so.
