This last week I hit up a Richelle Mead book signing. While the focus was the just-released Last Sacrifice, she indulged questions bout her Dark Swan and Georgina Kincaid series. (FYI: We’re holding the Last Sacrifice review to give more readers a chance to read it, because we know you’ll talk in the comments on this one.)
Mead reminded book signing attendees the third books in her series tend to be the most emotionally tumultuous (remember how Succubus Dreams (Georgina Kincaid #3) broke my heart and the way the ending of Shadow Kiss (Vampire Academy #3) floored you?). It was a warning. Iron Crowned is No. 3 for Eugenie and that can only spell gut-wrenching surprises.
And I’m begging for it. (Seriously, it’s like I’m in a bad relationship with Richelle — she makes us cry, frustrates us, makes us want to throttle her characters — but we just keep coming back for more.)
Here’s the synopsis for Iron Crowned, which is set to release on March 31, 2011.
Shaman-for-hire Eugenie Markham is the best at banishing entities trespassing in the mortal realm. But as the Thorn Land’s queen, she’s fast running out of ways to end the brutal war devastating her kingdom. Her only hope: the Iron Crown, a legendary object even the most powerful gentry fear…
Who Eugenie can trust is the hardest part. Fairy king Dorian has his own agenda for aiding her search. And Kiyo, her shape-shifter ex-boyfriend, has every reason to betray her along the way. To control the Crown’s ever-consuming powers, Eugenie will have to confront an unimaginable temptation–one that will put her soul and the fate of two worlds in mortal peril…
I don’t know about you, but I think that last line confirms we’re in for something gripping along with the action awesomeness that comes along with the Dark Swan series.
If you’re itching for this one, Amazon has Iron Crowned up for pre-order, I’m of the mind to read all Richelle Mead books on release day, but then again I’m kind of addicted to her novels.
So can’t wait for Iron Crowned!! That said, I’m so glad I’m in the UK because I really don’t like that US cover and the UK one is Stunning!! Of course, it’s a change in style to the first two UK books and it’s going to be a different size as well…but at least it’s a beautiful cover, makes it easier to put up with the changes 😉 So excited to see what’s next for Eugenie, but I know it’s going to be a rough ride. Eeek!
You’re so very right about the covers. The UK version is straight-up stunning down to the font used for the title.
Oh GOD I am so nervous for this book. So so so so nervous! I am counting down the days for Iron Crowned and Succubus Revealed!
Im on the edge of my seat I cannot wait to read this book
Already putting stock into kleenex. Cannot wait!!
After reading mixed reviews on Amazon, I wasn’t sure I’d like the Dark Swan series as much as Richelle’s other books. I started reading book 1, and ended up devouring both books within 2 days! I’m so anxious to see where the storyline goes, especially regarding the whole prophecy situation. Can’t wait!
same here! totally addicted to 3 of Richelle’s series, especially Georgina Kincaid’s! Eugenie’s story has just gotten really interesting though, with a certain scene between her and Dorian being the last thing I recall happening, lol
I thought you would like this video that I loved since you are a fellow richelle mead fan. It’s a must see let me know what you think. Here’s the post
