Book Bits: Rachel Vincent, Richelle Mead, Jaye Wells, Pamela Palmer, Melissa Marr and Hogwarts Humor

The Indigo Spell by Richelle MeadRachel Vincent Talks Soul Screamers Spoilers
I won’t embed the video here because of the spoilers, but if you’re up-to-date on the Soul Screamers series and missed Rachel Vincent’s live chat, never fear! The whole thing is posted online. It’s 70 minutes of Rachel talking all things Soul Screamers and answering questions (with lots of spoilers).

Blurb for The Indigo Spell
I am silly excited for the next book in Richelle Mead’s Bloodlines series. The Indigo Spell is set to release Feb. 12, 2013, and every little tidbit makes me a bit more excited for the novel. Richelle has finished her edits on the book, and shared the catalog blurb for the book:

In the aftermath of a forbidden moment that rocked Sydney to her core, she finds herself struggling to draw the line between her Alchemist teachings and what her heart is urging her to do. Then she meets alluring, rebellious Marcus Finch–a former Alchemist who escaped against all odds, and is now on the run. Marcus wants to teach Sydney the secrets he claims the Alchemists are hiding from her. But as he pushes her to rebel against the people who raised her, Sydney finds that breaking free is harder than she thought. There is an old and mysterious magic rooted deeply within her. And as she searches for an evil magic user targeting powerful young witches, she realizes that her only hope is to embrace her magical blood–or else she might be next.

If you haven’t started Jaye Wells’ Sabina Kane series, now is the time because the first book is now just $0.99 for digital copies. Red-Headed Stepchild features a half mage, half vampire with a demon cat sidekick and one hell of a twisty plot. And snark. Lots and lots of snark. If you love clever urban fantasy, Jaye Wells is a must. You can read VBC’s review of Red-Headed Stepchild or you can just click over to Amazon and buy the book. Or both.

Additionally, Jaye assembled this awesome vampire comparison chart. Another reason I like her.

Feral Warriors Excerpt
Pamela Palmer posted a nice excerpt from A Love Untamed, the seventh Feral Warriors book. It doesn’t come out until Dec. 26, 2012 — sexy warriors for Christmas! — but that won’t stop Pamela from teasing us with a bit of Chapter 5.

Melissa Marr is Coming to Visit You (Maybe)
Depending on where you live, that is. Melissa Marr posted her travel schedule for the next year, and she’s hitting Pennsylvania, Alaska, Canada, Texas, California and lots of other places. If she were coming to Dallas instead of Houston, I would be going to her signings. Check the schedule to see if she’ll be near you.

Which House Are You?
Awhile back Megan S. from Stellar Four convinced me to join Pottermore to find out which Hogwarts house I would be sorted into. I was so sure I’d be Ravenclaw (I highly value intelligence), but the Sorting Hat disagreed. No, apparently I’m a Slytherin. But being ambitious doesn’t mean I’m evil. Swear. But at least I didn’t end up in Hufflepuff, which is most everyone’s fear. And here is why…

  1. I wish I was a spirit user. That way I could easily persuade Richelle Mead to give me a copy of Indigo Spell today and I wouldn’t have to wait SIX MONTHS.

BTW, While I’m relieved not to be sorted into Hufflepuff, I’m more than a little concerned about my wand – 11.5 inches, yew, phoenix feather core, and surprisingly swishy. It’s almost the exact same one as Voldermort! WHAT?!?

  2. Sandy says:

Darn it video blocked at work. But I am a Hufflepuff and I wanted to be in this house so I am happy. The Indigo Spell!! I need it :'(

  3. Kristin D says:

Dying over that video! “Who has two thumbs & is a Hufflepuff?”

  4. Tamara says:

    Hey. We’re housemates!!
It wasn’t surprised about being sorted into Slytherin, though.
