Wildfire opens a few hours after the end of White Hot. Nevada and Rogan cut short their vacation when they learn that her paternal grandmother, a formidable Prime who’s been searching for her, knows where she lives. But when she arrives home she finds a completely different Prime in the kitchen with her family—Rogan’s former fiancée, Rynda Sherwood, whom we met in the previous book. Rynda wants to hire Nevada to find her missing husband. That case will put her back in the middle of the conspiracy that’s been brewing throughout the series.
In addition to tying up most of the loose plot threads, the Andrews team finally reveals all of the Baylors’ magical talents and where they came from. I’ve loved Nevada’s family from the beginning of the series and they just keep getting more interesting. And we meet some new Primes with new and impressive magic. (Sure they’re the bad guys, but their powers are so cool!)
Wildfire is very similar to the previous book, but everything is bigger and more intense. That may not be a totally accurate impression, but the series is such a cohesive whole that I have a hard time talking about one book by itself. The fact that I read them back-to-back probably isn’t helping, but it’s such a great series to binge. I am sure that Wildfire is fast-paced and full of great action scenes, of both the magical and the mundane varieties. I mean, there’s a car chase that includes a helicopter, a demon and a bear! This is such a fun book guys!
Wildfire is supposed to be the last book in the series, but the authors leave the door open for a return to this world. Ilona even tweeted recently that they would probably write one more Nevada book. But I might like to see another trilogy that follows a different Baylor—I’d love to see Bern, though I think one of the sisters is more likely. Even if none of that happens, I know I’ll be revisiting these characters. I’ve already reread the series once and I’m sure I’ll do it again.

Great Review! I completely agree. This trilogy was fantastic. With the open ending, and Ilona Andrews pretty much all but confirming it, I can’t wait to read more! Plus, I need to know if my theory in regards to the ending is correct. I loved that we got White Hot and Wildfire released so close together. It made all the info fresh in my mind when getting into Wildfire.
I also agree about getting another trilogy that follows a different member of the Baylor family. Honestly, they’re all interesting, but I think Leon would be great, although maybe fast-forwarded a few years. I just really liked the potential for where his power could take him.
Thanks. That’s true, you really can’t go wrong with anyone in that family. I’d even love a prequel about their grandmother.
I haven’t started this series yet but after reading your review I definitely need to add them to my reading ‘list’.
