Giveaway: A Visitor’s Guide to Mystic Falls

Ian SomerhalderThe Vampire Diaries is one of my must-watch TV shows. And not just because of my mini obsession with all things Ian Somerhalder (yep, the eye candy to the right is him). The CW has brilliantly adapted the world from L.J. Smith’s series of the same name into something soapy, engaging with plenty of sex and violence.

But before everyone was swooning over the TV versions of Stefan and Damon, they were all about the literary versions. And we have a copy of A Visitor’s Guide to Mystic Falls to prove it.

And we’re giving it away. The book features essays focused on The Vampire Diaries from some of your favorite YA paranormal authors including: Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Bree Despain, Sarah Rees Brennan, Karen Mahoney, Heidi R. Kling, Alyxandra Harvey, Kiersten White and more.

I would definitely have to say the show but then again i’ve only read the first book so I cannot really state either one but for now the show! I love Damon!!! but then again who doesn’t right lol

  2. Bonez_lover2011 says:

I love them both, it’s so hard to decide which one I like better. The hottness factor of Damon on the show definately has it’s perks.. hehe

  3. Linda says:

I love both! I loved reading it but I liked the different view the tv series gave. Still I’m more of a book person but maybe because I read it first.

  4. Jessie says:

I like the books and the series the same. They are very different yet both sointeresting, Its a whole new outlook and I Love it.

I prefer the book better than the Tv series!

  6. Patty Kalogeroudis says:

I love the tv series better than the books because I love watching Ian Somerhalder as Damon!!

  7. Sandy says:

I love the TV series more solely because of Ian Somerhalder.

(I usually love books way more than the movies made from them, but The Vampire Diaries are an exception.)

  8. Fran AKA ImmortalAngel says:

I won’t lie, I read part of book 1 and nothing else. I simply ADORE the show however.
Damon is soooo dreamy…I am STOKED for next weeks epi..we get to see old skool Stefan in Vampyre action!
I am reading STEFANS DIARIES ORIGINS book 1 as we speak. I ADORE that book..

  9. I have to say other than the characters one can not be compared to another. They both go in different directions so while the books were fun to read and exciting the t.v. series brings those characters to life with a visual yummy~ness plus a bonus of other adventures. Although i do have a pet peeve with the t.v. series…Elena is blonde (in the book) and where the heck is Meridith I liked her character. Happy reading Lovelies!

  10. Mikaela says:

I love both the book series and tv series. The book series because it was so amazingly written, it was interesting, and it always brought you back for more.
The tv series because it’s so much more alive, and it truly gets your blood pumping through out the show. The series went in a complete different direction, and it was interesting to see where they heading with it.
Oh. And Ian is amazing with his charector, he makes the show so much fun. <3

  11. Tom Andrew says:

I like the book better but liked both of them

  12. Mallary Mott says:

I love both, but I love the people they chose to play the characters. So, I guess I would have to say that the show is definitely my fave.

    Thanks for the contest!!

  13. FloeticFlo says:

I have not read the books but I heard Elena was less than friendly in them. so I prefer the show

  14. April Chapin says:

I am a Vampire Diaries fan. I have read the books and never miss the show. I love the show more than the books. When I read the first book, I couldn’t put it down but after getting into the third one I began having difficulty keeping an interest going. My favorite character is Stefan. I think the actor whom plays Stefan is very photogenic, so much so, I had the still of him with the veins under his eyes made into a tattoo upon my right shoulder blade!

  15. Doreen R says:

    I love the tv series.

  16. kailtyn says:

wow this is such a great give love the Damon touch nice

  17. Valerie says:

I definitely prefer the TV series over the books

  18. Caro says:

As much as I loved the books so that we can envision characters and settings ourselves, the show does a superb job bringing it all for the fans. The story line feels so much more intense with the show. Plus the men on the show are all just so nice to look at *drool*

  19. Caitlin says:

I love them both for different reasons. I like Elena more in the books, however I live the dark twist of the TV show. And Jeremy. The books don’t have Jeremy.

  20. Shah says:

I read the book when it was launched in Indian market. I have watched the first and 2nd series of Vampire diary. Though i am a guy, i am a damn fan of Damon; Steffans character is good and i like most of the charecters in it. But Ian is an outstanding person, with his looks and styles. My girlfriend also said she is “fida” (Hindi word means obsessed) with Damon.
