Giveaway: A Visitor’s Guide to Mystic Falls

logo

Ian SomerhalderThe Vampire Diaries is one of my must-watch TV shows. And not just because of my mini obsession with all things Ian Somerhalder (yep, the eye candy to the right is him). The CW has brilliantly adapted the world from L.J. Smith’s series of the same name into something soapy, engaging with plenty of sex and violence.

But before everyone was swooning over the TV versions of Stefan and Damon, they were all about the literary versions. And we have a copy of A Visitor’s Guide to Mystic Falls to prove it.

And we’re giving it away. The book features essays focused on The Vampire Diaries from some of your favorite YA paranormal authors including: Jennifer Lynn Barnes, Bree Despain, Sarah Rees Brennan, Karen Mahoney, Heidi R. Kling, Alyxandra Harvey, Kiersten White and more.

It’s hard to choose between the two because they are both so different, but with the same concept. Right now, I like the show better, because the story is unfolding right now, and I also love Ian Somerhalder as Damon.

  2. Pam S (pams00) says:

I’ve not read the books yet but love the show – great giveaway!

  3. Deysha says:

I love the show more, Ian Somerhalder helps with that.

  4. Carmetta says:

The storyline in the books and the TV show are every different with an occasional simular event. The characters are every different in appearence and personalities although they share the same names. That said, I love both the books and the TV series. But the edge goes to the TV series with the bad boy Demon (Ian Somerhalder) with his every conflicted feelings.

  5. Books vs TV Series. I would have to say TV Series for Vamp Diaries. The vamps are super hotties & I love their characters. I loved the Vamp Diaries books too, don’t get me wrong. I actually think I liked Elena better in the books. But it is so much fun to see the characters we love come to life!

Thanks for the chance to win!!!!

  6. The tv series since I haven’t read the series. I kind of don’t want to read the series in a way, I’m afraid it will ruin the tv show for me.

  7. Lisa says:

I have been hooked on the tv series for a while now. I have not read the books, but I am planning to.

  8. raven says:

i think i actually like the show better. ian is probably the reason for it too! lol

  9. Anisa says:

Every thursday night = popcorn and hot chocolate night during vampire diaries

  10. Anisa says:

oh, i havent read the series so obz the show.

  11. Lindsay says:

oh I love both but seeing them hot boys on tv is so much better… much better looking then I could ever dream up while reading!!!

  12. Jaime says:

Since I’m old school and I read the books in the 90’s when they first came out I like the books better. I do enjoy the show with all the hot boys though 😉

  13. Susie Hayes says:

It is hard to decide which I like better, The show or the books, in this case. They are both great in their own way but if I have to chose I would say the TV show.

For one Ian Somerhaulder, he is definitely the perfect Damon. Two, I love how they changed the story lines. I usually hate that, but the writers did an excellent job.

  14. Amanda Hamilton says:

The books and the tv series are so different, it’s like asking what’s better, fruit or vegetables? But I would have to say I like the series better. Not only do you get to drool over the guys but I just like the series story plots a lot more. Instead of Elena having a little sister in the books, she has a brother in the series just a year or so younger than her that plays better in a story line. There are more characters in the series I think, and it’s just better writing than the books. I sometimes found myself lost while reading the books and I have never had that feeling watching the series.

  15. In this case, I like the TV show better. Ian is perfect as Damon!

  16. Kari Ohnemus says:

I live Thursday to Thursday for the show… because of Ian & Paul!! Seriously can’t get enough of the men on Vampire Diaries!!

  17. Emily McKeown says:

    Sounds great!

  18. Tarra says:

Yay i want this book! lol

  19. Alyssa says:

I like both the series and the show. I can’t decide which one is better, because I think they are too different to choose.

  20. Mallary Mott says:

I have not read the books yet. I’m in love with the show though! *swoons over Damon* I hear the books are way different. Is this true?

  21. Right now I enjoy the show more because Damon is so hot.

  22. Tracey M says:

The books are good, but I like the show better.

  23. nikki osborne says:

That is easy and i hate saying it BUT I love the show better. Ian personifies Damon so well.

  24. Joani S says:

I haven’t read the books, so def the show!! Thanks!

  25. connie says:

in the beganing i luved the books but now i am all about cw vamp diaries the show is better and more understandable. the books are kind of jumping around and it is no longer catching my intrest. so i say cw vamp dairies any day that is my 1 hr a week were no body bugs me so i can watch it in peace and be happy for elena and stephan they are so cute together last night show i luved it so much and the ending i was like aww when elena told stephan she luved him and he said it right back to her.. 🙂

  26. Signe L. says:

I haven’t read the books (yet! 😀 ) but I will, so this fer I choose the TV show. 🙂

  27. Dane says:

Hello all! My name is Dane, and I own web forum about this tw sho in Serbia. This is first forum about this tw show here. I prefer books, but I also like tv series. Here, I can only buy books, but not that book, and I would like if you can gift me one. It would be really pleasure to me.

I notice this is only for US residents, but I wanna try, and maybe get lucky.

If someone has one book that he would like to give, please, Ill be waiting for good people.

    Dane

  28. Michele Brisco says:

I would have to say that the show is better than the books, only because the characters finally have some kind of “face” to match up with. PLUS Ian Somerhalder as Damon is portrayed incredibly!

  29. Mallory Hitzroth says:

Tough choice. The books and the show, are so different, but both so amazing! I’d have to say the T.V show better though. Not becasue you get an actual visual of the characters, but becuase they take the story line where the books don’t. The show goes deeper into the love, or at least that’s how it feels for me. So even though both L.J Smith’s book series is amaing, the show would have to be my favourite of the two.
TEAM DAMON & TEAM JEREMY! (Sorry, had to do it :P)

  30. Courtney Williams says:

I really love both. But if I had to choose it would be the TV show.

  31. Jenny Hayut says:

I think I would say the books are better ONLY because it’s more in depth of the characters and hello Stefan’s Diaries…We totally get to see everything from Stefan’s perspective which the show doesn’t do much. Don’t get me wrong though I so love the show and seeing the characters come to life is wonderful. The actors chosen could not have been picked any better. They are all perfect for their roles and I love to see those spicy scenes in the books come to life in the show! Team Vampires!

  32. Jessabeth says:

I must say that I find the show to be much better. We can really see a story flow, the love between the characters, the passion, and the chemistry. Plus there is plenty of eye candy around for everyone! lol

  33. Pamela says:

I love the show! I have yet to read the books, but they are on my TBR list. I recently got a copy of Origins (Stefan’s Diaries #1) and I’m excited to read it.

  34. Lauren says:

I love ian somerhalder and paul wesley

  35. Andrea says:

Most definitely the TV Series…Oh,sweet Damon!

  36. Kiana says:

I’m sorry to everyone who prefers the books, but I’m biased, because 1) I saw the show before I even knew it was a book series, and 2) I never actually read the books. So with that warning, I’m going to have to say that I prefer the show. I can’t imagine Elena without picturing Nina Dobrev, and the same goes for Paul Wesley (Yum!) and Ian Somerhalder (Double Yum!). I love to read, but for Vampire Diaries, I feel as though I can connect more with the characters by having actual visuals in front me.

  37. Jessica Glavas says:

Definitely the TV show! Ian Somerhalder FTW!

  38. Nancy Tsugawa says:

I prefer the tv series because it goes into more things than the book did. Ian Somerhalder makes Damon very enjoyable to watch. Nina Dobrev makes both Elena and Katherine entertaining. And Steven McQueen’s Jeremy is becoming very interesting with Bonnie.

  39. Stacey Harris says:

Definitely the TV show! Sexy, smart, funny. LOVE IT!

  40. Pat Connors says:

    The Vampire Diaries TV show

  41. Maria says:

The T.V show is my choice when it comes to picking between the books and the show because I saw the show before I ever even knew there were books. Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure they are good but in my mind Elena and Katherine are Nina not some blonde. So I suppose I am biased when it comes to my answer but there you have it. I chose the T.V show.

  42. Tai Freligh says:

I am currently reading the fifth book in the series and also watch the TV show. I like the show better because they have brought so much more into the show than the books. It is fun to see when they bring certain characters or elements or storylines from the book into the show, like the impending arrival of Klaus!

  43. Lindsat says:

The TV show! There is so much the writers and actors can do with the characters. They made great casting choices!

  44. Lindsay says:

The TV show! There is so much the writers and actors can do with the characters. They made great casting choices!

  45. Melissa Roberge says:

i liked the tv show or at least the little bit i have seen of it

  46. Tracey Byram says:

I generally prefer books to tv or movies.

  47. Diane says:

Right now I like the TV show better, because there’s something new every week and I love Ian Somerhalder!

  48. Lindsey McLeod says:

I must say that I prefer the books, I read them a few years back and fell im love with the story and characters so for me when they made the TV show and changed all that I’d come to love I was so disappointed 🙁 I wish they wouldnt take really awesome books and turn them into pretty rubbish TV shows. I guess if I hadnt read the books first I might actually like the TV show

  49. Missy says:

I’d have to go with the show because Ian Somerhalder is a hottie! 🙂
