We’ve covered the best books of 2013, but we’re ready to look forward here at VBC. There are so many wonderful reads waiting for us in 2014. To help you get excited for new books, we’re going to post our reviewers’ most anticipated 2014 books. Add your favorites in the comments. (See Amy’s, Krista’s, Amanda’s, Mary’s, Amber’s, Candace’s and Jo’s picks.)
1. The Forever Song by Julie Kagawa
I have been enamored with the Blood of Eden series since the first pages of The Immortal Rules. This trilogy has the things I love most in books: complex characters, life-or-death stakes and those on-page kisses that make your toes curl. The ‘did you seriously just do that to me, Kagawa?!’ ending of The Eternity Cure has left me constantly thinking about what will come next. I need The Forever Song, and I need it now.
Releases April 15, 2014. Pre-Order The Forever Song
2. Up From the Grave by Jeaniene Frost
So, nearly everyone here at VBC is dying for this book. You probably are, too, fair readers. (You do have excellent taste, and I bet you have cute shoes on, too!) We’ve loved Cat and Bones from the beginning when it didn’t look like their relationship was going to work. We all went wide-eyed reading Chapter 32 and each subsequent time we got glimpses of Bones’ bedroom skills. We fell in love with these two and the supporting cast of the Night Huntress series. I trust Frost has found the fitting end to their journey and I’m excited to discover what that is.
Releases Jan. 28, 2014. Pre-Order Up From the Grave
3. Arcana Chronicles #3 by Kresley Cole
This book doesn’t even have a name yet and I want it. Badly. Endless Knight was one of my favorite books of 2013, and a big part of that was because it completely messed with my head. Cole manipulated my emotions like a master, and I’m here begging for more. I thought I had things figured out, and then she’d spin them. I have no idea what will happen next in this series, but to say I need to know might be an understatement.
Releases October 2014.
4. Wild Things by Chloe Neill
The Chicagoland Vampires series is hitting a stride of late. The characters are vibrant. Ethan and Merit are going strong. And the plots just getting more twist-y. I’m digging it, and I’m looking forward to finding out what comes next for our Cadogan vampires.
Releases Feb. 4, 2014. Pre-Order Wild Things
5. Chained by Night by Larissa Ione
You know those series people discover late and binge read? The ones we get all jealous thinking, “I would love to have read all those books back to back.” My gut says the MoonBound Clan books by Larissa Ione are going to be that way. I devoured the first book Bound by Night. I want more, people. I will wait until August because I have to, but Ione’s take on vampires makes for nom nom nom reading.
Releases Aug. 1, 2014. Pre-Order Chained by Night
