Kim Harrison has a knack for giving us memorable, quirky characters. Remember the first time you learned about pixy swearing in Dead Witch Walking? The woman takes character development to another level in the ninth Rachel Morgan/The Hollows book, Pale Demon, where we’ll get to see tension build as they’re all crammed in Rachel’s mom’s Buick. Yes, it’s the Great American Roadtrip….with a witch, a vampire, a scheming elf and a pixy (and anyone else they pick up along the way).
We won’t lie. We’ve started an advance of Pale Demon already here at VBC. (Page 204 of 409, if you were curious.) And DAMN it’s good. But with sweet nothings from the publisher, we’re holding the review for a bit. Instead, we want to know what book series cast you’d be willing to spend two days in a car with?
Jenks, Rachel, Trent and Ivy look pretty appealing, when you consider the possibility of days in a car with Mac listening to Barrons and V’lane from the Fever series bicker. Maybe you could handle the chemically-altered ride with Chess, Terrible, Bump and Lex from the Downside Ghosts series? I just know I wouldn’t get in a car with Will, Cassian and Jacinda from Firelight (review). Too many chances for things to blow up, literally.
Pale Demon is scheduled to release on Feb. 22, 2010, and as we mentioned the other day, Harrison has posted the first chapter online. It’s available for pre-order from the Book Depository and Amazon.
I was lucky to also receive an ARC of Pale Demon from Pub. Ooooooo weeeeee. Honestly, I’d love to spend the day with Kate,Curran,Andrea, Raphael, Jim, Derek, and Julie from Ilonia Andrews series. That would be a hilarious snark filled trip.
Oh, you ARC ppl are making me SOOOOOOOOOOOOO jealous!!!!!!!!! I thoroughly look forward to reading Pale Demon. I really need a Jenks fix, stat! Honestly, I think Jenks, Rachel, Ivy, Trent and Al would make for a fantastically funny, dangerous, unforgettable road trip.
The Morganville vampire series by Rachel Caine is GOOOOD…can reread them and re-enjoy them 🙂 & OF COURSE Kim Harrison’s Hallows!
I think spending 2 days in a car with Rachel, Jenks,iivy and Trent would actually be not only fun but very interesting. Their relationships with eachother are fun and witty. And this comes out the day after my b-day…. Woo hoo! I might just have to take a pto day just to get my hallows fix!
