The leader of Cadogan House takes on the Beast Lord in Round 11 of the Alpha Showdown. Both have defeated one foe, but who will advance?
Ethan Sullivan edged out a victory over Atticus O’Sullivan, a druid with some seriously powerful skills. Will Ethan’s cunning get him past Curran?
Curran knocked out wolf shifter Hawke. Will the claws come out against the vampire?
You get to decide.
Read the pitches, then make the call. Who should advance to the next round in the Alpha Showdown? The poll at the end of this post will be open for two days (closing at 11:59 p.m. CST on May 25). Remember, alphas don’t share titles. Your votes decide who advances in the Alpha Showdown 2012.

Ethan Sullivan, leader of House Cadogan, is the vampire you’d want having your back in any situation (or have you on your back for, but that’s another story). He’s smart, witty, cunning, arrogant, proud, measured, and strong. He’s a true leader, a vampire who’s adapted to the change of years and come out stronger.
Plus he looks like this: “He was tall, two or three inches over six feet, and lean like a swimmer—narrow waist, broad shoulders, long legs. His hair was straight, shoulder-length, and golden-blond. His face was chiseled—knife-edge cheekbones and a firm jaw, his brow strong, his lips worth calling home about.”
What’s more, Ethan is incredibly loyal. He puts the safety of Cadogan vampires above all things, even if it means he loses something (in this case, Merit). He is arrogant enough to own his decisions, he’s got a massive ego, and he will go toe-to-toe with his woman, and respect her for standing up to him. Even as he tries to seduce her to change her opinion.
He’s not the meanest (Zsadist), the most lethal fighter (Bones?), the handsomest (Colin Ames-Beautmont), the smartest (uh…never mind, he might be), or the most terrifying (Zsadist! Nice to see you again!), but he’s the only vamp in this showdown who’s got everything.

When you hear about a character long before you ever pick up the series, you know they’re Alpha material. And Curran? He’s the Alpha-iest of them all. He commands legions! He has strength and cunning in spades! He is CURRAN! Hear him roar! That’s right, folks, he’s the Alpha’s Alpha and he’s not going to let anyone drag him away from that top spot.
Besides his physical strength, which is very impressive, Curran has stamina. *holds up seven fingers* He’s battled hordes of warriors, a really pissy secret society, and an army of demons and he still has time to romance his lady. The way he stalks his prey puts every other Alpha on the list to shame. He might not be the smoothest shifter on the block, but his technique leaves Kate swooning and I don’t hear her complaining.
Big, smart and ruthless enough to keep the largest band of shifters on the East Coast in line, Curran is more than deserving of the title of 2012 Alpha Showdown Champion!
Okay! I adore both of these men to death! I am serious! But I have to go with Curran! HE IS MY ULTIMATE ALPHA! And I will be rooting for him all the way!!! 🙂
This is the hardest choice I’ve had to make in the Alpha Showdown. I love them both so much. I have to go with Curran though just because of what happened later in Chicagoland Vampires. No spoilers! And plus Curran is just so amazing I named my first Nook after him. Yup, I seriously did.
Oh sure, yes Ethan is great, but Curran gets my vote no question. He can’t hold a candle to Curran’s alpha badass! Curran makes the men want him to! Somebody get me a bib!
This got all messed up 🙁
Ethan’s good and everything but come on, Curran’s Alpha of all the shifters – he’s a lion FFS, different leagues
Ladies, I am glad you’ve made the right choice! I bow to you!
Curraaaannnnnnnn! He’s my favorite alpha! So perfect! 😉
Ethan has nothing on Curran. Go get’em Curran! 😉
Curran. Hands down. No contest at all. ;D
Curran!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
seven finger…when she told him to stop.
ok this one is easy… CURRAN!
It’s an easy choice for me, even though I do love Ethan, Curran is just more alpha than him.
Yup, even if Ethan is sexy with his green eyes, I love Curran more.
Seriously??? Wow, this is SUCH a no-brainer. Curran all the way, baby!!
I agree with the majority. Ethan is cool and all but, well, he’s no Curran. 😉
Curran. Because real alphas only need one name, no one else would ever dare use it. Rawr.
GO CURRAN ALL THE WAY!! He exemplifies everything an alpha should be and he is also the king of beasts in animal-form too!You can’t get more ALPHA than Curran!
Curran vs Ethan?! that’s the most tough choice I have to made in the Alpha showdown… I love both but my vote goes to Ethan!! Curran has a lot of other fan who can vote for him and Ethan deserve some vote and supporters too ! Hope he won but I will be glad too if Curran won 😉
Toughest choice by far! I love them both for very different reasons. Ethan is smooth alpha where Curran is alpha alpha. My vote is for Curran which makes me feel I’m cheating on Ethan. I even clicked vote with my eyes closed, whispering apologies.
Uch, it’s so hard this time. I love them both. Amm… Curran 🙂
Curran the best lord!!Go
Because real alphas only need one name, no one else would ever dare use it.
+1
Ethan who???????
Go My Beast Lord!!!!!!!!!!
Much as I love Ethan and believe me I do for a bad a… It has just got to be curran. Why? How many other Beast Lords do you know?
They are both amazing. This is one of the hardest choices ever!
Huzzah, the Beast Lord… hands (or paws??) down!
Ethan is great but Curran is awesome!
CURRAN, hands down since Ilona and Gordon are THE BEST!!!
(and just because I still have a bad taste after Hard Bitten)
This would have been a much more difficult choice if not for events in Hard Bitten. It really messed up my outlook for Ethan (which I’m still upset about). Curran is a very strong Alpha anyway, though, so I went with him as well.
Oh, this isn’t hard for me AT ALL. Curran. Duh!
Your post says it all, Duh!!!! Hands down, its Curran. No contest. Duh
The Beast Lord, of course!
I don’t even know if I’ll read about Ethan again!
Owh! Sooo very hard to choose! I love both of them! <3
There’s really no choice here: Curran.
Curran! Curran! Curran!
Definitely Curran. I think Ethan wants to be like him.
Just so you know, I have laughed myself to tears over this post. Now, all I can see is Sullivan with a I HEART CURRAN t-shirt on over his track pants.
I’m sorry…
I LOVE Ethan and I LOVE Curran both…but the Kate Daniels series is my FAVORITE series ever. I have to go with Curran.
OMG! This is a horrible decision to make. I love them both in different ways, but I have to go with Curran. He just IS Alpha. Ethan is not quite there yet but I look forward to him getting there! Love them both
Usually I would vote Ethan but since Hard Bitten book and only met Curran . I would choose him over Ethan.
Curran, for sure! I like Ethan, I do, but too often I think this character only exists for the piling on of the angst and to be used in plots that try to showcase how wonderful I’m supposed to think the heroine is. Obviously, this effects my perception of his Alphaness. Not so with the three dimensional Curran.
I haven’t read Chloe Neill yet. But Curran is my absolute favorite alpha. That he would leave his pack for Kate if necessary shows how much he loves her. Ilona and Gordon are amazing with this series.
This one is easy for me. Curran! the Beastlord…! Ethan is a baby for Curran…
Curran, of course!!!!
Ethan, Ethan, he’s my man!
Love Ethan, he is great, but Curren is the Beast Lord. Roooaar!
No contest. Curran all the way.
it’s a no brainer Curran is the most Alpha of all Alphas!!! <3
I love Curran, he is THE alpha!
Curran is The Beast Lord! And he is mighty fine ad well! Curran all the way.
Ethan is my pick. He just so swoon-worthy! He is unquestionably the most powerful vampire in Chicago, but he doesn’t have to wear his fierceness like a badge. He is badass and everyone knows it.
My friend, Zee, said it best about Ethan:
“Ethan for me is just amazing because of how he is with everyone…not just Merit you know. The loyalty, love and respect that man inspires is just….amazing. He’s smart, knows when to be diplomatic, thinks for the others under him before himself and is not weakened by pride. There is nothing more amazing that a leader who can inspire that kind of loyalty with out having to be too in your face fierce and ruthless.”
Word, Amiga!
Curran all the way. And also, Ethan is dead in my mind cause he never survived the bout with Atticus. Make it so!
CURRAN!!!!!!
