We’ve spent the last two days with kick-ass ladies, but today it’s time to get back to the guys. And while we’ve already heard a few of you gripe about how difficult the battles are, today it doesn’t get any easier. Dimitri versus Jace?
Oh, we’re going there. Two of the most popular YA hotties are going to battle it out in Round 4. Will snark win out over stealth with a stake? You decide. (Added bonus, if you’re good and read to the end there just might be several YA titles up grabs.)
You can get a refresher on just what this Alpha Showdown thing is here, but a key point to remember: Each poll is open for only 48 hours. Then, the champion will advance to the next round until only one alpha remains. So, vote while you can. (Jump to the poll)
Championing for Dimitri: Marie from VampireAcademy.org
Dimitri isn’t one to waste words, but when he speaks, you’re likely to swoon. You can just imagine that smooth Russian accent and those serious dark eyes looking right through you, telling you you’re so beautiful it hurts. And who could forget that lust spell? Sigh.
One of my favorite things about Dimitri is the way he’s always so capable. If you’ve got a problem, you know he’ll have a solution. Still, he always acknowledges Rose’s abilities and encourages her to improve her skills, with no insecurities about her being stronger than him. If that isn’t sexy, I don’t know what is.
What makes Dimitri a real Alpha Showdown contender isn’t his broad shoulders, all that contained power or even that accent (sigh). The sexiest thing about him is his loyalty, devotion and honesty. When he says something you know he means it; if he makes a promise, you know he will honor it. That is ultimate sexiness in my book. So when he promises he will make you lose control in seconds… you can trust him to deliver.
Sure, there is some great competition out there, and Jace has that sexy snark thing going for him, but, come on, who doesn’t love the brooding, tall, dark and handsome?
Championing for Jace: Ash from Smash Attack Reads
Snarky, Sexy, Steadfast Shadowhunter. Ok, so he’s not quite legal, but this matters nada to me! Jace is the epitome of awesome, in my eyes. Yes, he can be a downright pompous ass, and if you don’t appreciate witty sarcasm, then he will piss you off in a quick minute. His witty banter about himself provided some of the best lines of the series.
What I love about his narcissistic personality is the obviousness of it all: He acts this way to hide his true emotions. Now, don’t get me wrong, there’s no doubt he truly thinks he’s hot shit (and, he is), but it is a complete defense mechanism. Beneath his animated exterior is a young man who is constantly suffering from his past experiences and lets out his feelings in the form of rage and vengeance.
His fighting skills are damn superb and he doesn’t let anyone forget that. His hard shell softens up after he becomes comfortable with Clary, and he finds himself feeling a new emotion. *swoon* Since he feels everything so intensely, his love for Clary is deep and powerful. And while Jace has some unlikeable qualities, he isn’t complete devoid of commendable ones.
He is strong, intelligent, fearless (not always a great quality!) and completely protective of Izzy and Alec, his “brother and sister”. Physically, Jace is perfecto! He uses his stele to apply magical runes all over his skin. Think seriously hot tattoos, ladies! He’s tall with lean muscle, wavy gold hair and long eyelashes. And, let us not forget that he has Angel blood running through his veins…
I admit Dimitri is a smexy Russian with lush brown hair and a body that don’t quit. Oh, and he has superior fighting skills and experiences emotions intensely, as well. I get it. I get it. But Jace is a complex character and one of my top favorite book boys! Regardless if he wins, no one will ever top him. Oh, the dirty thoughts that just brought up…
Come back tomorrow to when we bring back in the big boys, pitting Zsadist from J.R. Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood against Curran from Ilona Andrew’s Kate Daniels series. You can see the full bracket, and keep updated on which polls are open by visiting the Alpha Showdown page.
