Baby Shower for Eugenie Markham (Richelle Mead’s Dark Swan series)

logo

You read that right. Vampire Book Club is hosting a baby shower for Eugenie Markham, the heroine of Richelle Mead’s Dark Swan series. It’s one of my favorites, and, well, a fitting way to celebrate the closure of the series. The final book, Shadow Heir (VBC review), hits stores on Dec. 27 and if you’re up-to-date, you know our favorite shaman-turned-faerie-queen is pregnant with two little ones – a boy and a girl.

And we want to celebrate!

Baby Shower for Eugenie Markham (Richelle Mead's Dark Swan series)

For your chance to win a set of the entire Dark Swan series (Storm Born, Thorn Queen, Iron Crowned and Shadow Heir) or one of two copies of Shadow Heir, simply leave a message for Eugenie. It can be advice about entering motherhood, best wishes for the twins, a list of baby essentials – whatever you’d like.

As this is a virtual baby shower, we aren’t limited by lack of chairs. Invite your friends to swing by VBC with well wishes for Eugenie and her little ones – either via posting this invitation up or tweeting the invite – and we’ll give you a bonus entry.

We are using Rafflecopter to manage the entries, so you’ll need to fill out the form below in addition to leaving the comment. This way you don’t need to leave comments if you decide to share the invite.

This contest is open to U.S. and Canadian addresses and, as the invite states, will run through January 8, 2012. Make sure to fill out the form and leave your comment by then in order to be entered for a chance at the three prizes. Also, a huge thanks to Kensington Books for providing the prizes.

Eugenie I would advise you to sleep now because you definitely won’t be getting any sleep once the twins come.

  2. Pamela R says:

Eugenie, good luck trying to make any sense out of all your Gentry gifts 😉 and congratulations!!!!

  3. Kristen Heyl says:

    Eugenie,

Best wishes and remember when changing a boys diaper always have the second diaper ready or you will be doused in urine…lol.

    Twins? Oh, honey, good luck!
Advice for the new Mom: buy lots & lots & lots of disposable diapers and wipes! And Gripe Water! And Gas drops! And about a gazillion onesies! 😉

(I’ve only read the first 2 books, but the rest of the series is definitely on my List.)

  5. Melissa F says:

The best advice, make sure to spend time, lots and lots of time with them and savor all the little moments that will never happen again. It can be way too easy to get wrapped up in the chores, the I NEED to get done todays, the job…but don’t get so bogged down in all that that you are distracted from the simple joys.

  6. Denisetwin says:

As a twin myself, I will say my mother always said that once past the totally dependant infant stage, my twin and I were easier than our singleton sibs as we always had someone to amuse us and keep us occupied.

  7. tlmfarmgirl says:

Congrats Eugenie, get lots of sleep, and trust your instincts. Looking forward to reading Shadow Heir

  8. Anna Dase says:

Eugenie first CONGRATZ on the twins but better be prepared u r going to have your hands full, but being a mom is wonderful.

  9. Jennifer says:

I would say make sure you learn some patience. You’re not going to be able to keep doing things the way you’re doing them and that’s bound to frustrate you. LOL.

  10. Amber Hall says:

    Good luck with the twins!

  11. Renee says:

    Congrats~!

  12. Victoria Sloboda says:

Congratulations! Twins – WOW! When someone offers you a hand, take it. One baby is quite a bit of work. Two requires accepting help :).
I wish you all the best.

  13. My advice? Use those diaper wipe warmers – babies love them!

  14. Arianne says:

I was told that I will be getting Shadow Heir in the mail for review. It would be absolutely awesome if I could also win the rest of the books in the series so I can do a proper review 😀 Thanks for the giveaway!!

    Oh, I love twins 😀

  15. OMG!!!!!!! I can’t wait. I have been holding off reading this series until all the books are out.

Okay Eugenia. Best piece of advice. Don’t be quite while the babies are sleeping. If you are loud and noise the babies will sleep thru anything.
Best of luck to you my dear.

  16. Barbara Elness says:

Good luck Eugenie on being the mother of twins. It might be twice the work, but it will be twice the love and twice as rewarding as well. Hopefully, you’ll have support from family and friends. If so, make sure to take advantage of all the help you can get.

  17. Michelle says:

Don’t hurt me, but I have not read this series. I am very intrigued though and have put the books on my wish list. I so love Baby Showers and you ladies are wonderful for doing one.

  18. This series has been in my to read list for awhile. I was waiting for the whole series to be released before I dive in. I already have so many series I’m reading that I have to wait year by year. It’s killing me this waiting. LOL
I’m hoping you and the twins are very happy and healthy.
    DeAnna

  19. Sara says:

    Congrats!

  20. ML says:

Congrats Eugenie! Twins are a handful!! Best wishes.

  21. Lisa Mann says:

Congrats! Babies are so much fun!

  22. thegirlonfire27 says:

Twins! That rules! Congratulations and good luck.

  23. Gena Robertson says:

Eugenie, the best advice is to never take the babies to bed with you…once you do, you’ll never get them back out!!!

And if you can get them both to sleep at the same time, take a nap when they do – everything else can wait. You will need the sleep more!

    Congratulations!!

  24. Yadira A. says:

CONGRATS Eugenie on the little ones! I have a twin brother and sister… just be prepared for double the duty, crying, and laughs:) Lots of work, but so worth it!

  25. Victoria Zumbrum says:

Congratulations on the twins. Cherish every moment with your babies. Tore923@aol.com

  26. Jennifer says:

Best wishes! And sleep now. Especially with two babies you will never sleep again.

  27. Judith says:

Congrats! My best wishes to you all!

  28. Brenda D. says:

Congratulations Eugenie! I hope they take after you! If someone offers to help with them, say yes. It can be tiring keeping up with one baby, with two, it is doubly so. Enjoy them while you can because before you know it they’ll be mouthy teenagers.

  29. Twin? That’s fantastic! Congrats! You better start getting extra sleep now because after they’re born you will sleep no more. Having one baby is tough but having too is so much harder. Learn some relaxation techniques. That way when your frustrated because they won’t sleep you’ll not be tempted to fall apart!

  30. Vivien says:

Make sure to get plenty of sleep now. You’ll never get enough later.

  31. Denise Z says:

Congratulations. Today is a good time to have a child – have you seen the awesome carts in the market shaped like cars and the the really neat bouncy seats you can sit on the table or counters while you are doing your around the house function that let you keep your eye on the baby and get stuff done. Wow I envy the moms of today all the nifty helpful tools that are available today. I had one and it was a blessing – twins are double the blessing.

  32. Stacey Siferd says:

OMGOSH!! Congratulations!!! I LOVE baby showers and what could be better than a double baby shower. And right before Christmas!! This is the most exciting baby shower I have ever been to. Congrats on your upcoming release <3 Warmest wishes and ons of love to you and your family!! Merry Christmas Eugenie, may all of your dreams come true <3

  33. Congrats on the double trouble! My younger sister had twins…she conceived despite having lost one ovary and one fallopian tube! I told her that it was God’s way of telling her to stop asking for a girl: she now has four boys, ages 11 through 4! My advice – never take your eyes off of them for a second! You’re going to be fishing your cell phone out of the toilet, finding the cat in the dryer (thankfully, they didn’t know how to turn it on!), and having the time of your life! Enjoy the silence while you can…

  34. Zgarza says:

It’s double the giggles and double the grins, and double the trouble if you’re blessed with twins.  ~Author Unknown

  35. Patricia says:

boudreaux’s butt paste, amazing for rashes. mr. clean magic eraser awesome for when they are older to erase any artwork on furniture n walls once they are old enough. congrats and enjoy the time with them while infant’s, because it really does just fly by :0)

  36. Shelly says:

Eugenie!! So happy about the twins!! I myself just had my first and just the one is handful enough for me!! Learn your nursery rhymes sister!! Before I had mine, I couldn’t even remember the second verse of Hush Little Baby. You could sing whatever you want to them, they won’t know the difference, but maybe later on when they here that song, they will remember that you used to sing it to them. Great memories could be made!!

  37. Parajunkee says:

Good luck with those twins Eugenie…a good father figure around might help you out with some of those problems that might arise. And wild animals around the babies I don’t think that would be a good idea…just saying.

  38. Jeanette Rivera says:

Congrats!! Twins WOW! Get your rest your going to need it. What a blessing.

  39. Pam Roberts says:

    Eugenie
Congrats on the upcoming births of your children. Remember that they only wear diapers until they poop or pee once. Not like my ex-sister law who waited to see how much it takes to fill a diaper. Her other belief that babys don’t cry when wet. Is a 100% wrong. How my nieces surived her I’ll never know.Good luck!
    Pam

  40. Jeanette Rivera says:
