Immortally Embraced by Angie FoxOh, readers, I’m gearing up for the Authors After Dark convention in New Orleans in a couple weeks. If you’re going, make sure to tweet me — @ChelseaVBC — to meet up. I’ll be attending with my real-life bestie Kristin from My Bookish Ways.

Also, the August group read poll is at the end of this post… so make sure to read the whole thing.

Cover Reveal for Immortally Embraced
Angie Fox’s second Monster M*A*S*H book isn’t set to release until Feb. 2013, but until then we have a blurb and a cover with a half-naked guy. You’re welcome.

IN THE BATTLE OF THE SEXES…
Even during a truce, Dr. Petra Robichaud has her hands full as the M*A*S*H surgeon to an army of warring gods—especially when Medusa herself turns up pregnant. Petra has no idea what to expect when a gorgon’s expecting, but she won’t let it turn her to stone. As the healer-hero of an ancient prophesy, it’s Petra’s job to keep the peace. But as the lover to a warrior demi-god, she knows how impossible some jobs can be…

IT’S EVERY GOD FOR HIMSELF.
Commander Galen is sexy, strong, and sworn to lead his team to hell and back. But when he announces to Petra that he can no longer risk her life for his love, the doctor is on her own…Until a mysterious new entity—in the form of a hot-blooded male—enters the picture. Can he be trusted? Can he be resisted? Meanwhile, an oracle delivers another prophesy that places Petra back on the frontlines with the man she may be bound to for eternity—in love, or in war…

Dani Worth Excerpt
Sometimes we need a little post-apocalyptic romance. It’s probably why I’m always backing Glenn and Maggie on The Walking Dead. Well, Dani Worth’s After The Crux promises to bring the sexy to the end of the world. Read the excerpt over at Deadline Dames.

Prince Ash… Shirtless
Julie Kagawa has posted a nice little teaser from her upcoming novella Iron’s Prophecy that features VBC favorite hot boy with sword (HBWS) Prince Ash shirtless. I will say it has spoilers, so it’s one of those read-at-your-own-risk things, but totally enjoyable. Very much looking forward to reading Iron’s Prophecy and the final bit of Meghan and Ash’s story.

Dracula Wants Your DVR Space
Kind of. The folks behind Downton Abbey are bringing Dracula back to the small screen for a series with NBC. This is exciting for a few reasons. First, they’ve tapped the talented (and delicious) Jonathan Rhys Meyers to play Dracula. You may remember him as King Henry on The Tudors. Second, the team from Downton know what they’re doing. Third, um, Dracula.

Can You Pick Just 10 Best YA Novels… Ever?
NPR is asking us to do just that. They’ve put together one big list (from nominations) of the best novels for teens. The poll allows readers to select up to 10. It was hard to narrow down. For me, I went mostly with classics (The Outsiders, Fahrenheit 451), but couldn’t resist voting for the fantastic Richelle Mead, too. Take a look at the epic list and vote.

Pick the August Group Read
I put the call out on Facebook and Goodreads for suggestions for the August group read. You guys were clear on which books you wanted on the poll, so here we go. Make sure to vote on or before July 30. Also! Let me know in the comments if you want to have a group read chat on Twitter for Once Burned. The weekly discussions at Goodreads are working well, but if you still want the big chat, we can make it happen this weekend or early next week.

OMG! You’ve given me the world’s hardest choice for the August group read!! I’m dying to get my hands on “Biting Cold” and I LOVEthe rest of them……….decisions, decisions……I guess I’ll just pick the one I suggested (although, I secretly hope Magic Bites wins).
