The Golden Lily by Richelle Mead (Bloodlines #2)Read the first chapter of The Golden Lily
Looking forward to more from Richelle Mead? Yeah, of course we are! Shelf Life just posted a Q&A with the author and the first chapter of the second Bloodlines novel The Golden Lily. And, yep, we’re ready for more. If you didn’t give Bloodlines a go, read our review.

See the full cover for Vicki Pettersson’s The Taken
I’m pretty excited to read Vicki Petterson’s The Taken. It’s a new series from the woman who brought us the Signs of Zodiac series and the front cover made me want to buy a cute dress. Now, though, we get to see the front and back. That means man candy and the full blurb. Vicki posted it on her blog. Go. Look. Report back.

More Shadowhunters coming in 2015
Another Shadowhunter spinoff? Yep. No one is complaining, either. Cassandra Clare just inked a deal for a new Shadowhunter spinoff series set to hit shelves in 2015. This one, dubbed the Dark Artifice series, is set in modern Los Angeles. Here’s what the AP says about the new series:

“The series follows Emma Carstairs, the fiercest warrior and most skilled young Shadowhunter since Jace Wayland, and Emma’s sworn partner in arms, Julian Blackthorn,” the statement reads. “Despite Emma’s complicated feelings for Julian, the two must band together to investigate a demonic plot that stretches from the warlock-run nightclubs of the Sunset Strip to the enchanted sea that pounds the beaches of Santa Monica.”

Pillbox, anyone?
It’s not exactly a surprise that I enjoy some book bling. (We give it away ever so often here at VBC.) Well, the lovely Janet Cadsawan has created a new piece for the Downside Ghosts series. Chess’ pillbox is now a pendant and it’s utterly badass. To add to the awesomeness, Stacia Kane is giving away one of these awesome necklaces as well as two signed copies of Sacrificial Magic. Yeah. Remember, Chelsea lurves Sacrificial Magic.

Zombies for Easter
You may have noticed the new ad on the upper right of the site for a Chocolate Zombie Bunny from ThinkGeek. Typically I don’t put ads that high on the site, but I have to say, I’m kind of in love with that undead chocolate bunny. Yes, I bought one. Yes, I think you should buy one. And, yes, if you buy it via that link you’ll earn a tiny bit of money for VBC that is used solely for site maintenance and giveaways. So, tell me, why haven’t you ordered some undead deliciousness yet?

Because my book-reading bitches need a laugh
Sure, this video features much more literary fiction than speculative. If we made it, there would be shoutouts to Downside, The Hollows, the Brotherhood, alphas and getting blurbed by Paul Goat Allen.

But we just don’t have the time (or rap skills) to do so. So, just enjoy the video (NSFW language). (Or, you know, hit the comments here and suggest paranormal romance and urban fantasy rhymes. Maybe we’ll make a video from your suggestions. No promises.)
