Shadow Heir by Richelle Mead (Dark Swan #4)It’s been a chaotic and stressful week at VBC HQ. On the upside, I’ve been chatting up my National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) progress with the Huffington Post. Check their Books section each week for an update, if you’re curious. Also, I popped in at Heroes & Heartbreakers earlier this week to talk about the case of nerves I get before diving into the next book in a beloved series. Yep, series anxiety. It’s a thing. In the meantime, dig into the latest bits of book news.

Think good thoughts for Stacia Kane
For those who haven’t heard, the incredibly awesome and talented Stacia Kane has been in the hospital for the last couple weeks. She is finally home(!!), but could use all the get well wishes we can shower her with. If you adore Stacia and her Downside Ghosts and Megan Chase books, please send a quick email wishing her well to DownsideArmy@gmail.com.

Shadow Heir released date moved up!
Squee! You read that right. The release date for the final book in Richelle Mead’s Dark Swan series Shadow Heir has been moved up to Dec. 27. That’s just about six weeks from now. Gasp! Is it bad that I’m hoping a certain on-and-off boyfriend dies? (Because I totally am.) We will have a VBC review of this one, despite my nerves that it may not play out how I’d like it. I suggest you pre-order Shadow Heir.

But Once Burned release date is pushed back
It’s true. You’ll have to wait a bit longer to start on Vlad’s Night Prince series. Jeaniene Frost promises it’s worth it. She took the extra time to really get the novel edited to where she adores it. This means it’ll be a summer release. A few more months to wait for some Tepes gold, folks. Despite the delay, Once Burned is available for pre-order.

New Iron Fey website
Now that we have our Prince Ash story, Harlequin Teen has built out one super pretty website for Julie Kagawa’s Iron Fey series. In addition to the standard info about the books, you’ll find quizzes, videos and downloads to allow you to show your Team Ash or Team Puck allegiance.

Cover Alert: Dark Kiss
Oh, Michelle Rowen got the pretty for the first book in her YA Nightwatchers series. I’m actually a bit mesmerized by the wings our quintessential bare-chested guy has on the Dark Kiss cover. I dig this artwork. Thoughts?  The book is set to release in June 2012.

Dark Kiss by Michelle Rowen

Cover Alert: Wicked Nights
Gena Showalter has unveiled the cover for Wicked Nights, the first book in her new Angels of the Dark series. The book comes out on June 26, 2012, and no one will judge you should you start lusting for the book now. Here’s the official blurb:

From the New York Times bestselling author who brought you the Lords of the Underworld comes a dark, seductive new series featuring angels poised at the brink of destruction…

Leader of the most powerful army in the heavens, Zacharel has been deemed too dangerous, too ruthless, and if he isn’t careful, he’ll lose his wings.  But this warrior with a heart of ice will not be deterred . . . until a vulnerable human tempts him with a carnal pleasure he’s never before known.

Accused of a crime she did not commit, Annabelle Miller has spent four years in an institution for the criminally insane.  Demons track her every move, and their king will stop at nothing to have her.  Zacharel is her only hope for survival, but is the brutal angel with a touch as hot as hell her salvation—or her ultimate damnation?

Cover Alert: Endlessly
Another beautiful, ethereal cover for Kiersten White’s Paranormalcy series. Check out the pretty purple Evie’s donning on the cover of Endlessly.

Dark kiss cover, I don’t like it. his wings looks like he has been struck by lighten or something. and the hair, Elvis I hear you say.
There is something not right with that picture. :/, but It is Dark. 🙂

  2. Joanna says:

I agree with Jancy. Though I think the wings are pretty, they don’t look flight worthy. What’s the point in having an angel who can’t fly? And the hair? Makes his head look too big. However, it won’t keep me from reading the book. Loved Ash’s story! Oh, how I will miss the Nevernever:'(

  3. Haha. I love that you guys don’t like that cover. The wings, I’m mesmerized by because they don’t look like traditional wings. They’re almost ghostly. Like a memory of wings.

  4. Line says:

I love the wings. They look surreal and unpredictable. I am in totally agreement on the hair though – too much Elvis and makes his head look abnormal – not at all attractive…
