Character Christmas wishlists (and international giveaway)

logo

What's Santa bringing our favorite characters? We’re feeling the holiday spirit here at Vampire Book Club. Family’s in town. There are delicious foods in the kitchen.

To add to our Christmas celebration, we asked some of our favorite authors to share what goodies would top their characters’ wishlists. Some are practical, others hilarious. All will make you smile this Christmas Eve.

Nicole Peeler on JANE TRUE

1) New Converse
2) Gift certificate to Read it and Weep
3) A panini press to make tuna melts
4) The affections of a certain, hardheaded barghest.

Carolyn Crane on JUSTINE JONES

For Christmas, Justine wants SO BADLY for her father to promise to come to her upcoming wedding. He is a total germ freak and almost never leaves his house. It would mean so much to her if he said he would go, but she has told him he can’t wear his biohazard suit or level four respirator to the wedding. He has to dress like a normal person. So it’s a little iffy…

Get the books: Mind Games and Double Cross

Firelight by Sophie JordanSophie Jordan on JACINDA

What would top Jacinda’s (FIRELIGHT) wishlist?

That’s simple. WILL!!

Get the book: Firelight

Jeannie Holmes on ALEX and VARIK

Only two things top the wish lists for my characters. Alex would want the corruption charges against her to be dropped and the upcoming FBPI inquiry to go away. Varik would wish for the same but add having Alex accept her engagement ring again and agree to marry him.

Get the book: Blood Law

Jason Henderson on ALEX VAN HELSING

I think Alex Van Helsing would probably get a lot of use out of two things: 1) a pair of light-weight night-vision goggles, light enough to pass for sunglasses, that included infrared so that they could pick up a cold vampire against the evening air, and also 2) a gift certificate good for a couple of hours with a therapist or some other similarly well-trained person, not for therapy or anything but just to give him advice on which of the various women in his life he should be paying the most attention to. Because that stuff is deadly.

WIN NOVEL FROM OUR WINTER BOOK PREVIEW

And, now, because we can’t give our favorite characters a little something, we have a contest — AN INTERNATIONAL CONTEST — for you. We know the Winter Book Preview giveaways are mostly limited to those living in the U.S. and Canada. To make it up to our fabulous international readers, we’re going to give one person any book featured in the 2011 Winter Book Preview (see the full list of authors/books here). You get to pick one book, we’ll pre-order it. The only caveat is that the Book Depository must ship to your location.

John Cusack or archdemon Jerome?

John Cusack or Georgina Kincaid's boss and archdemon Jerome?

So, what do you have to do to earn a chance at your pick of awesome titles like Shadowfever, The Iron Witch and This Side of the Grave?

To enter: In a comment below, tell us what gift you’d get for one of your favorite book characters.

It doesn’t have to be the main character. (I’d probably pick some kitschy John Cusack thing for Jerome from the Georgina Kincaid series.)

1. You must leave a comment answering the question above.
2. This contest is only open to anyone in the world. (International readers, rejoice!)
3. Contest is closes at 11:59 p.m. CST on Saturday, Jan 1, 2011.
