City of Ghosts: Symptoms of Terrible Fever

I gots Terrible fever, aye.We gots Terrible Fever, aye? Vampire Book Club true friend. Takes care of readers, dig? We gives you the tells.

We suck at Downspeak. So, let’s just say we’re incredibly excited for today’s release of City of Ghosts, the third installment in Stacia Kane’s Downside Ghosts series. (Read reviews of the first two books here and here, or just read our Q&A with Stacia.)

In reading Downside Ghosts, Vampire Book Club, along with  just about every other urban fantasy book blogger, has fallen in love with Terrible.

Sure, he’s an enforcer for a drug lord. Sure, his face is busted up. We don’t care. We’ve got Terrible Fever and are praying City of Ghosts will help soothe us.

In honor of Terrible Tuesday, Vampire Book Club would like to help you diagnose Terrible Fever. Check your symptoms:

  • You read Unholy Ghosts or Unholy Magic (or both) in a single sitting.
  • You follow @StaciaKane on Twitter waiting for Terrible treasures.
  • You have forgotten the original description of Terrible in Unholy Ghosts and only focus on the bits of soul he’s bared to Chess.
  • You find yourself shaking your head, muttering “that slap!”
  • You re-read the Unholy Magic scene at the shed, and imagine what you wish Chess had said …and let your mind play out what would happen next.
  • You listen to Terrible’s favorite rockabilly-tinged punk tunes while driving to work.
  • You don’t need another Lex sex scene, but multiples with Terrible — make-up sex or otherwise — would be heartily welcomed.
  • You sigh in relief after reading Book Chick City’s City of Ghosts review, because you know if you hold on tight you’ll get your Terrible fix.

Thanks to our Amazon Prime membership, we are pleased to say City of Ghosts should be on our doorstep when we get home from work today. Expect thoughts on Twitter and a review here on the blog.

Until then, anyone else have Terrible Fever? Other symptoms? Please share, you’d be doing a public service.

Book blogger friends: Feel free to use our Terrible Fever logo. The design was a collaboration with the lovely Kindlelicious. Everyone should visit her blog.

    Great post!

    • Thanks. I don’t like the idea of waiting a year for the fourth Downside book, but City of Ghosts’ ending provides some closure. (And that closure is soooo good. Promise!)

      • Diana says:

I agree, but the situation could hardly be more precarious. I most certainly hope *SOMEONE* (with the initials of CP) doesn’t bugger it up too entirely badly! As she is rather wont to do.

  10. Loved this!! Thanks for sharing 🙂
