Okay Immortals After Dark fans, this is a full-on, grab-the-tissues alert.

Pre-Dark Skye, I had no idea what in the hell to expect out of a Vrekener. I mean, we get the gist of it. Thronos basically fireman carried Lanthe out of the island prison and in Immortals After Dark land, we know that means they are intended for each other. These guys have a serious hang up with the word MINE. When they find their intended females, these guys (almost literally in the case of Lachlan and Emma) bust hell wide open to get to their women. But what is a Vrekener, besides something that Lanthe wasn’t feeling all too hot about?

Thronos Talos may now be my favorite Alpha in the Immortal After Dark verse. Don’t worry Bowen, you still get me all tingly whenever I think of tying a lycan up to a tree. But Thronos is every single thing that defines the word. Dark, broody, charging, lust-filled…broken.

Lanthe floored me. I knew that I’d like her. Think back to Demon From the Dark (Carrow and Malkom’s story) and how Lanthe fought side by side with Carrow and Ruby. The Queen of Persuasion is so very different from Sabine, her sister. And, side note, Sabine ranks side by side with Doc Jane on my list of least-favorite heroines. Lanthe (and Sabine) are from the Deie Sorceri and Sorceri are mortal enemies of Vrekeners.

Trouble? You bet. A 500-year cluster-you-know-what of epic proportions. So what happened once Lanthe and Thronos got off the island?

Magic.

Dark Skye is the kind of book that is the very hallmark of an incredibly gifted author. I’m Team Lycan all the way in Immortal After Dark land (Bowen MacReive, nuff said), but this book made me forget that MacReive left us with a cliffhanger. Oh, no. Lanthe and Thronos and their rediscovery of a long-lost love made me forget which brother was hot, which brother was hotter, and then it made me sad because it will be a year before we get another installment.

This is how you do it right and keep your readers wanting more. Because at the last word of Dark Skye, that is exactly what I wanted.

I’ll definitely have to read this one. I’ve been hearing such awesome things about this one, like it was way better than the last few installments. I’m ready to be wowed. =)))

  2. Ezisen says:

I think you forgot about Lothaire… 😛 The BEST character in the whole series.

    • Candace says:

Ezisen, I assure you that no one forgets about Lothaire (myself included). But while I fawn and fan myself regularly over the Enemy of Old, I’m a Bowen girl. And, after DS, a bit of a Thronos girl as well. *wink*

      • Ezisen says:

Well, everyone has their favourites… And yeah, I can understand your love for Bowen. If it weren’t for Lothaire maybe I would agree with you. Or maybe I would pine after a certain dark demon prince… 😀

May I scream for a moment?

    WHAT ABOUT MUNRO??????

    Now, I feel better.

I am eagerly awaiting my pre-ordered audiobook and avoiding all spoilers!! *holds out hands*

    • Candace says:

Oh Munro, you delicious Lykae… Sorry, I got distracted for a moment.

      Donna June, enjoy that audiobook!
