Throughout our Character Love Letters event you’ll see other readers publicly admitting their love for fictional characters. Today is the first of 2013’s fan letters. Jen from Red Hot Books professes her love for Tyler from Amanda Bonilla’s Shaede Assassin books. I love this series, too (though I swoon more for a certain arrogant royal…). You can check out the VBC review of the first book Shaedes of Gray to get a taste for the great urban fantasy series. Or just let Jen’s letter make you fall in love.
You don’t know me. If I were standing right in front of you, I doubt you would even see me. Because there are no other women in your eyes. None, other than Darian. It’s one of the reasons that I love you.
Don’t get me wrong. Your looks don’t hurt. All those lean, hard muscles. Gold and bronze streaked hair. An amber Adonis with a deadly edge. Ha! I’ll bet you’d laugh to hear words like that. You know you’re gorgeous, but it’s not your pretty face that makes people stand up and take notice. You’re a man who gets things done –who gets people killed—for a price.
You’ve got so much power in you. I can’t believe Darian ever thought you were human. Or that she thought she ever needed to protect you. You’re a Jinn. You can do anything. Well, there are a few pesky rules about that. But some rules are made to be broken. You know that better than anyone. You do what you feel you must. You never disappoint.
I’ve strayed from my point a little bit. We were talking about how you love Darian, which I guess makes it kind of strange that I’m writing you a love letter. But it’s hard not appreciate that kind of loyalty and devotion in a man. A love that makes you ignore the rules, risk your life… risk anything… for someone else. It’s almost enough to overshadow your David Beckham bod or the fact that you could kill with a thought. (Yes, I said “almost.” Don’t judge me.)
So after all that, I’ve only got a couple of things left to say. One, you need to heal your heartbreak and fix things with Darian, STAT! Stop trying to figure out whether she wants you or needs you and remember that she loves you. Fix it. And two, if it doesn’t work out… just ask Chelsea for my phone number. My husband never has to know.
Extra in love with Tyler? A novella from his point of view hits e-bookstores today. The Kindle copy of Lost to the Gray is only $2.99.
