[From VBC: Chelsea here. So, big news! We have a new reviewer here at VBC. It pleases me immensely to introduce y’all to Candace. I assure you she has good taste in books, particularly of the paranormal romance variety. You may remember she wrote a guest post for us a few months back. You also may know her from Twitter (@cpblackburn73) or as one of the mods at FrostFans.com.]

When Larissa Ione made the announcement she was starting a new series involving the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse, I wanted to fall at her feet and beg her not to let the Seminus siblings go.

Here, on Vampire Book Club, I admit being wrong.

Book two of the new series involves Limos, the lone sister in the Horseman camp and the bride-to-be of Satan (and you thought your wedding had issues!). There are many bumps in the road to Satan getting his bride. The first being an Aegis Guardian by the name of Arik, who starts things off by kissing Limos earning him in a torturous trip to Hell for a month. All he had to do to escape was say Limos’ name while in agony. Easy enough, he was being tortured in hell after all. Nothing doing. This human had the constitution of a Seminus demon and a Horseman combined. Torture? Bring it on.

For Limos, getting Arik back was only half the battle. The bigger problem came in reversing the mental mind trip he underwent in Hell. Any attempt made by Limos to feed him resulted in him asking for his eyeballs and guts (that was his usual food). Not to mention that before his escape and subsequent rescue, Pestilence found him and broke him…literally.

Pestilence, oh, my favorite of the Horsemen. I’ve had a love/hate/use-me-for-your-evil-plans literary relationship with Pestilence since Eternal Rider and I can not wait for his book. However, Pestilence flew his evil flag high. His redeemability is in serious question and at the end of the book, I, captain of Team Pestilence, was even wondering just how in the world Larissa is going to pull this off.

Then I reminded myself that it’s Larissa. Of course, she’s going to pull it off. Pfft.

So Arik is in a mind blender, Limos is betrothed to Satan, Ares is a newlywed, Thanatos… oh, here is where it gets kicked up a notch. Pestilence gets a set of artifacts to Limos, which she gives to the Aegis. The round table mind trust of the Aegis deciphers one of the artifacts to say that Thanatos could possibly save the world, avert Armageddon and be a general Dudley Do-Right if he would just do one teeny tiny little thing that may break his seal. Which brings in the Aegi Regan and a kickass set up for Lethal Rider.

Does Limos get her HEA? Does Arik’s mind survive the bender it was on? Do we get lots of action? Do Ares and Cara end up back in a tree? Um, no to the last question, that was just wishful thinking, but Larissa being Larissa, does not let us down in the smoking hot department.

There is so much stuff happening in Immortal Rider, I can not begin to sum it up. There is a battle for Deliverance, the knife capable of ending the Horsemen, secrets revealed that could destroy sibling relationships and the fight to save one human’s mind without sacrificing his heart. If Immortal Rider was a ride at the amusement park, it would be the one that goes up a couple of hundred feet before careening you back to the earth at ear-shattering speeds with twists and turns at every angle. The only negative thing I can say about it is that we have to wait for June to get more with Lethal Rider.

In other words, if you don’t have it already, go get this book.

I really enjoyed this book. I know some people had a problem with what happens but I think I understand what happened and I am not so judgmental. And we all know that it will be resolved in Than’s book.

CdnMrs – have at it. It’s a thrill ride.

Victoria, you do see where everything is going, don’t you? Of course, we could all be gobsmacked by something in Than’s book, but that’s part of getting in with this series. There is nothing dull about it. Gobsmacking is expected.
