Sacrificial Magic by Stacia Kane (Downside Ghosts #4)It’s been a few weeks, but Book Bits has returned! And, I have news for J.R. Ward and Carolyn Crane fans, excerpts of the urban fantasy and paranormal romance persuasions and cover eye candy. Dive in, readers.

Cover for Sacrificial Magic
Just yesterday Stacia Kane revealed the cover art for her fourth Downside Ghosts novel Sacrificial Magic. And, I don’t know about you guys, but I’m in love. The design kind of reminds me of Caitlin Kittredge’s Black London novels, but what I adore most is the woman on the cover looks so much like how I picture Chess. What about you? Does this cover do it for you?

Black Dagger Brotherhood teasers
Last week, J.R. Ward and Christine Feehan held a chat. The flurry of questions, etc. was overwhelming, but that’s why we have Bells. I was out watching Straw Dogs — which tried to steal my ASkars joy — with Kristin from My Bookish Ways while Bells from Hanging with Bells was taking notes on all the juicy tidbits tossed around in that chat. Read her recap and get excited for upcoming BDB books.

Ready for more from Carolyn Crane? (Yes, please.)
Disillusionists fans will be happy to hear that the third book in Carolyn Crane’s urban fantasy series has both a title — Head Rush — and release dates. It will be coming out on audiobook first in early November, then releases as an ebook on Dec. 6 (totally just marked my calendar). The print version is forthcoming in 2012.

Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors by Molly HarperCover reveals: Molly Harper, Rachel Vincent and Veronica Roth
Molly Harper shared a few details on the next Jane Jameson book. It will be called Nice Girls Don’t Bite Their Neighbors and its cover may have a certain vampire wearing a bat-shaped engagement ring. This amuses me to no end.

I’ve always liked the cover art for Rachel Vincent’s Soul Screamers series — both the U.S. and U.K. versions. She shared the U.K. version of If I Die, and I adore it. That billowy grey always conjures just the right tone to me. Take a look.

Entertainment Weekly’s Shelf Life blog scored the exclusive cover reveal of Veronica Roth’s Insurgent. In addition to seeing the pretty cover (I think the tree is a symbol for Amity), there is also a quick Q&A with Roth.

Deleted Cat & Bones scenes?
Avon has re-released the digital version of Jeaniene Frost’s first Night Huntress novel Halfway to the Grave (read the VBC review) with extended and deleted scenes. And…wait for it… for a limited time you can get the eBook for just $1.99. If you haven’t started the series this is a great time to do so, but also long-time fans may want to get in on some of this deleted action. Heh.

A Devil Named Desire by Terri GareyExcerpts: Terri Garey, Kelly Meding and Melissa Marr
Alongside the cover reveal for A Devil Named Desire (right), Terri Garey posted an excerpt from the second book in her Devil’s Bargain series. PNR fans, the excerpt begins with a certain hottie saying, “I want to kiss you.” Do I really need to encourage you to go get a taste of the book? Didn’t think so.

Kelly Meding shared an excerpt from Tranced, the first book in her new MetaWars series, over at the League of Reluctant Adults blog. The book is set to release Oct. 25 via Pocket, and features 20-something superhero types (in my head, they’re like the Meding version of X-Men, because I really love X-Men).

Melissa Marr posted a snippet from her forthcoming novel Carnival of Souls (release fall 2012) on her blog. She also includes a bit of insight into character names, which I always enjoy.

Breaking Dawn trailer
I’d be remiss if I didn’t post the trailer for the first part of the film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s Breaking Dawn. We both know you’re going to enjoy the broken headboard and feathers scene *cough*honeymoon*cough* but are you ready for Bella slurping blood and half-vampire baby birth scene? (I am.) Get the full tease for Breaking Dawn: Part I below.

CONTEST ROUNDUP
