From VBC’s Chelsea: We’ve covered the best books of 2013, but we’re ready to look forward here at VBC. There are so many wonderful reads waiting for us in 2014. To help you get excited for new books, we’re going to post our reviewers’ most anticipated 2014 books. Add your favorites in the comments. Today Krista talks about several stellar urban fantasy titles coming in 2014. (See Amy’s picks.)
1. Magic Breaks by Ilona Andrews
This is the book that Andrews has been building to throughout six novels. I am so glad that series has been extended past the original seven. I am also totally excited that instead of postponing the epic confrontation they intended; they are instead going with their original plan. The books after will be a continuation of the world I have become obsessed with. We might even get to know Curran and Kate’s family! Yeah!
Releases July 29, 2014. Pre-Order Magic Breaks
2. Burned by Karen Marie Moning
The return of Barrons and Mac. More Ryodan. More Moning yumminess! Enough said.
Releases July 22, 2014. Pre-Order Burned
3. The Undead Pool by Kim Harrison
I know there are tons of Kisten fan girls out there, but I have been rooting from Trent since the moment he stepped on the page. I can’t wait until we finally get past the will they or won’t they.
Releases Feb. 25, 2014. Pre-Order The Undead Pool
4. The One by Kiera Cass
The Selection is finally coming to a conclusion. Will she choose the Prince or the Guard? And will the Prince even choose her? Most importantly will the monarchy still exist or will the rebels finally find what they are looking for?
Releases May 6, 2014. Pre-Order The One
5. Shaman Rises by C.E. Murphy
I have been following this series since the publication of Urban Shaman in 2005 through various highs and lows. The last few entries in the series have been spectacular. Everything we have hoped for through the series was finally coming to fruition. I can’t wait to see how she is going to wrap the series up.
Releases June 24, 2014.
Murder of Crows by Anne Bishop is on my list. I don’t know why Written in Red was so enthralling, but I have read it over and over again. Also, The Book of Life (Deborah Harkness), Night Broken (Patricia Briggs), Banishing the Dark (Jenn Bennett), The Winter Long (Seanan McGuire)…so many awesome books!
Oh, The Book of Life! I am SO looking forward to that one!
Speaking as one of the “Kisten fangirls” you mentioned, Trent will never be good enough for Rachel! For God’s sake, he put her in the rat pit! He’s tried to kill her on more than one occasion. Even if Kisten is gone (and I’m not truly convinced of that!), there has got to be someone better out there to be Rachel’s HEA!
As for my can’t wait list for 2014, my list includes “Up From the Grave” by Jeaniene Frost, “Wulfe Untamed” by Pamela Palmer and “Wild Things” and “Blood Games” by Chloe Neill, “Vampire Most Wanted” by Lynsay Sands, and “How to Seduce a Vampire (Without Really Trying)” by Kerrelyn Sparks.
I’m super excited for those Chloe Neill books, too, Sue! *high five*
Yea Magic Breaks!!
