Vampire Academy Re-Read Challenge

logo

Vampire Academy Re-Read ChallengeWe’re looking to the release of Last Sacrifice, the final book in the Vampire Academy series, with excitement and apprehension. We want to complete this journey with Rose, but it will be hard to let go of our favorite YA series.

To get the most out of it, we’ve decided to re-read the series before the Dec. 7, 2010, release. We invite you to relive Rose’s journey of love, responsibility, friendship and heartbreak with us.

Vampire Book Club is sponsoring a Vampire Academy Re-Read Challenge. All five books will need to be read between Oct. 1 and Nov. 30. We’re giving a two-month block, because we’re aware some of you will be doing Fever and Highlander series re-reads simultaneously.

The five books we’re reading for this challenge are (click to view description at Book Depository):

If you haven’t yet read the Vampire Academy series, this is a great time to do so. It’s a remarkable YA series with great appeal to adults. The fourth title, Blood Promise, is one of our favorite books — YA or otherwise.

MAKE THE SACRIFICE

Want to participate? First, you need to sign up via this form.

As you read or re-read each title, review it and link back to this post. If you’ve already reviewed a book, comment on this post with a link to your original review and a comment on something new you took away from the book this time around.

Not a blogger? Not a problem. You can post your reviews to Goodreads, Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc. (any public site that allows reviews) and just post the link to that review in the comments below.

The challenge runs Oct. 1, 2010, to Nov. 30, 2010. Reviews and comments must be posted between those dates to be eligible for prizes. You may fill out the participation form at any time prior, though.

WIN PRIZES

All participants who review at least one of the five books will be entered to win a copy of Last Sacrifice (to be pre-ordered). This is open internationally, provided that The Book Depository ships to you.

  36. Kate says:

BN would not let me post my review of Vampire Academy so hear it is

Now, I have read many vampire book/series over the years and none of them I enjoyed as much as this one. The main thing that I loved about it is how the characters are so relateable. Rose and Lissa are a great example of the meaning “Best Friend”. They are always there for each other. the bond between them brings a very interesting twist to the story.

OH and then there is the whole Student/Teacher relationship conflict between Rose and Dimitri; the sexy, badass Russian school guardian. This whole subplot makes the story edgy and exiting.

Another thing is the consepts of Moroi- Living Vampire, Dehampire- Half human and half vampire and that happens when a Moroi vampire mates with a human or dehampire. oh and Strigoi- undead vampires; they are made and live to destroy the Moroi race. It is the job of the Dehampires to learn to be guardians and protect the Moroi form the Strigoi and that is what Rose is learning to be for Lissa( a Moroi)

    http://vampirebookclub.net/vampire-academy-re-read-challenge

  37. Kate says:

Well done once again Richelle Mead!! This is when things start getting dark and intense. Everyone is worried about the Strigoi after a big attack happens. Rose is still crazy about Dimitri her tutor but now there is another girl trying to win his heart. On top if it all Rose is constently inside Lissa’s head and is not liking what she sees. Then there is Mason; Rose’s good friend and he is falling for her. What is a girl to do right; how about go on a ski trip with your friends and have the drama that come along with it.

  38. Petra says:

I’ve read all the books twice now and I absolutly love them I’m obssesed actually and I can’t wait for the sixth book. I’m even reading the first book again for a school project…

I love the way you can connect with the characters and the whole story. My favourite characters are probably Rose and Christian, If you loook at them they have alot in common, but they still don’t like each other and are constantly fiting over lissa. They are both badasses ( Rose being rose and Christian burning people) and it’s really fun to watch them fight with all the snarky comments they can think of. Then of course there’s the whole guy issue with Rose I meen first it was Mason and in the first part of the first book Jesse and of course Dimitri and then in the second book Adrian, and it so interesting to see the way she deals with the guys practicaly lining up to be with her. Also Lissa is great they have the tipical best friend relationship with an annoying step up. I can’t imagion feeling someone elses feelings all the time.

I can’t even pick my favourite book It’s probably the third or the forth one. Everytime I read the part where dimitri is turned I criied and I love how Mason helped her from the beyond. He was sort of anoying during her field test but he still helped them find the strigoi. In the forth book when new characters are introduced, Sidney a vampire hating Alchimist who is a great adition to the story, Avery which I knew from the begining was bad, but was interesting to read about, Abe Roses misterious father, the Belikovs Dimitri’s family and the Dhampire Moroi couple really made the story even more interesting. Also you really find out a lot about the secret element spirit and the strigoi comunity and the fact that it’s in russia whoch is one of my favourite countries it’s even better.

Also an interesting fact is that she took the moroi, strigoi and dhampire creatures from actual miths and didn’t make them up,because I peronaly went to dig up as much about the miths and she really inspired me even more for the supernatural and made me want to study mithology. She’s an amazing writer and I really want there to be more books about Rose.

    http://kimscarecrow.blogspot.com/2010/05/vampire-academy-by-richelle-mead.html

When I re-read VA I think I fell in love with Dimitri even more than I originally did. I’m not really sure if that’s possible. I still had good feelings for Christian. I always liked him and I don’t know why. I’m only up to Frostbite so I hope he doesn’t disappoint me later on.
